Spring has sprung!  Another beautiful day on the Texas Coast. Took Paloma Blanca ( Van) to a buddy's house and modified some brackets to mount my awning.  Heating up fast gonna need some shade.

Thanks for asking Dusty.

About 82 degrees with scattered Wahines.   A bunch of which I paid to wash my bike and sidecar.

Was record warm here and I got out for a little local scoot on my Honda.  I was afraid I'd drop the Breva in my muddy driveway or I'd have taken it.  I loved riding again although it was almost not worth it.  Such a tease to have to slow down on the corners.  After a couple snowstorms, the roads are just covered with sand....
Jim, if I see a Wahine, will I know what it is?

Another glorious day in February in Indiana. Made some test boolits, shot them up. Worked on the airplane, getting it ready for flying season. Roared around on the Lario. Life is good.. thanks for asking, Dusty.
Unfortunately, this warm spell will wreak havoc on the flowering and fruit trees, and I heard a bullfrog last nigh. He'll probably take it tough, too.  :undecided:

Well Dusty, it has been shall we say an interesting two days.
For the last 5 months we have had road works in our street as the Council have been installing a cycle-way, part of the National Plan to install a cycle-way from the top to the bottom of New Zealand. Great. :thumb: As a cyclist I think it is great, and having it run in front of us suits me just fine. However, it came as a shock to suddenly find that some innocuous lines on the road were actually representative of a big bilge in the intersection.

I am a mild man of peppermint, but as we were promised "unrestricted access" I got angry. I hate being lied to. In a short space of time I did a letterbox drop informing resident, organized a street meeting with residents and council reps, got fobbed off with more weasel words and met with delayed responses, the last one being delivered as work started this Monday. I was at Uni in the late 60's but never went to a protest, never been to one in my whole life, but this was the last straw. I quickly painted up a placard reading "another arrogant council ballsup under construction. Cyclists 10 residents 0 and stood with in the rain. I had done a second letterbox drop encouraging residents to write to anyone they could think of if they agreed with what I was standing for. The results were overwhelming. By Tuesday I had been on the radio, interviewed by three newspaper and with me standing in front of the digger and another resident getting through the barrier and parking his large 4WD behind the digger we shut down the operation. :thumb: Got cold and wet for two days but it was worth it.

I had a visit from a Councillor last night, and fortunately I was able to inform him that I was right that trucks would not make it round as I had seen a truck get stuck on the previous Friday; he could quote his standard council rubbish all he liked, but I had seen the reality with the arse end of truck blocking a main arterial road.

We may have won the first battle but we haven't won the war yet. Interesting being threatened to have the  :police: :copcar: brought in I didn't shift.

Sounds like a pretty bold protest!   I've made the papers myself here in my community once or twice, but I must say I never blocked a JCB earthmover with my body, like the Chinese dude in front of the Red Army tank in Tiananmen Square that time ..

What if the driver got stroppy and got down out of his cab with a tire-thumper or a tread-link wrench?  Was there a back-up plan?

Hope it comes out your way after all this trouble!

Good job Muzz  Considering that our little town seems to be incapable of fixing multiple issues with roads that are caused by the main water lines leaking , I may need to emulate you .

Our Health and safety Laws Lannis. I personally consider they are way over the top but my partner-in-crime (I use that advisedly as we actually broke the law to effect the shut-down) used the fact that the contractors would have been liable if we had been injured.

Over the 5 odd months that they have been working on the project the contractors have been brilliant, and I get the impression they fully support us in spite of being unable to say anything.

I woke up early this morning, 6am. Reached for my glasses on the dresser, not there. Hmmm. Scrounge around a bit looking for them, nope, nothing .

Got out my spare pair.  Looked around.  Nope.  Still ain't found 'em.

I hope this isn't a precursors to the day's events ! Time for coffee.

Found them!  Laying in the bed.😆

Took about an hour to get my wife out of bed and going today. She's on morphine and has nearly no strength. Difficult times.

Well Dusty, it was a pretty quiet uneventful day, at least for most of it. However, after tea we ducked around to our nephews place to go for a ride in his new set of wheels, a 2015 McClaren 650S done in a nice metallic Kermit green.

Although it is not a big motor at around 3.9 lits, the 650 stands for 650hp. He took my wife and I (separately of course) for a wee spin. He had to watch it as it was dark and the roads were damp but , o boy, can that thing scoooooot!  He put his foot down it seemed like instantly it was doing 170kph. The ride was remarkably compliant which surprised me as our Christchurch roads are not particularly smooth.

Ride was over all too soon sadly.
