Have been trying to source particular brand and model of boot for 6 months with no success , yesterday I stumbled across a source and ordered a pair. Life is good

Excellent. No riding but a vigorous hike in the winter bush.

Ski school clinic at Snowmass. At the start of each season we have to prove we're not yet senile.

If I'm lucky, I'll never know. I strongly suspect someone will tell me, and soon.

Had the shortest job interview in history yesterday.

Them  - "yes come in, well having recieved your ideas and expression of interest, we we would like to offer you the position"

Me - "er is this my job interview then?" (I was just asked in for a chat!)

Them  - "in your case there no need to go through all that, you have worked here for 10 months"

Me  - "In that case I accept the offer"

Handshakes all round and I start on 2 January. Promotion and for the first time in my career 5 staff to look after and manage. I suspect there will be a lot more meetings in my future.....

There's a reason they call me Rainman out here.  I've been in SoCal for 9 days now, and haven't ridden in the mountins once. No doubt, once it quits, there will be mud/rocks on the roads for several days..

Hell, I'd go flying Chuck. No pavement needed, unless it's soggy. It's warm back home, but salty roads.

Planning a ride today - not far, 50 miles or so. Xmas has been pretty good, and quiet, just how we like it!

I don't even *consider* flying out here. First, I'd have to ..cough cough.. Pay (Guzzi content)  someone to rent their spam can which I don't enjoy flying anyway.
Second, and more importantly.. there is absolutely no place to go if the engine quits. Here's the scenario:
1 Fan stops turning.
2 intrepid aviator has a look at his options.
3 Roughly one million houses.
4 Bumper to bumper on the interstates.
5 Ocean
6 Beach
I'd take door number 6, but would end up on my back with a fixed gear ship. Nope, not for me..

Now back in the land of the living.

Spent a very pleasant 11 days at our families seaside holiday house in the boonies.  Blew like crazy most days (spent some time cutting up a tree that had come down on my fizzboat - no damage fortunately) eating too much, drinking more than I usually do and catching up with friends.  Took a trip over the hill and caught up with my Best Man 49 years ago.  He brews his own beer and we reminisced over about the best beer I have ever had.  Grows his own hops.  Being a former electrical engineer and controls man he has his system dialed to the Nth degree.  :boozing:

Spent the last two days of holiday with my nephew at his holiday place in Picton in the Marlborough Sounds. Went fishing in his very nice boat and caught our max. bag of Blue Cod (about the nicest eating fishes here) and 5 large Gurnard, also about the nicest eating fish here. :thumb: Ate too much, drank too much, earned my keep with my chainsaw and pole saw restoring the fantastic view that he has from his place and generally had a fantastic time.

All the best for the New Year to all here on W.G. :thumb:

Attended a Travis Linfield concert.  Chickasha OK native.  Hour and halve totally acoustic set.  A wide variety of original music and a great guitar set.  Engaging personality.

Held at St. Joseph's. the oldest German Catholic Church in Texas.  One of Texas' remaining painted Churches.  Great natural acoustics. Desantified in the 70's.  Preserved as a surviving example early Texan folk art.

A night of amazing music in a unique setting.  It's no wonder Saint Anthony looks pleased

The pressure is now on. Son has to vacate the premises that he runs his power steering ans wheel alignment shop from.  He found out in early November that he had to shift; of course nothing happens over the Christmas holiday period.  With eight days until he has to move the crunch is on to move from one place to the new one without breaking stride.  Yesterday morning was spent trying to get stuff to happen with the landlord, carpenter, painter and aluminium joinery rep trying to get stuff to happen so that by the 25th the new place will be good to go.  Today was spent starting to shift small and not so small stuff with my trailer around to the new premises while avoiding areas under repair.

Had the grandson(who works for son) with a couple of his mates who are still on holiday helping to shift steel workbenches and shelving.  Home now and pretty knackered.  A beer helps to put things into perspective.  Tomorrow I am around there modifying the shelving and fitting new stuff, and welding up the odd workbench.

Next eight days are going to be busy.
