I'm firmly of the opinion that the "Death Wobble" has to do with improperly set-up and/or modified bikes.

NEVER experienced it on any Harley I've owned or ridden, nor do I personally know anyone who has...

A properly set up H-D will handle pretty well, even in stock form.

However, as I have elaborated many times, for performance riding, a few modifications will transform the H-D's into machines that can hold their own against most European bikes.

The H-D comes set up for the sort of riding that vast numbers of H-D purchasers want.

Bolt on a set of Ohlins rear shocks and jack the bikes up 2-3 inches, drop in a set of fork cartridges and Stage One the fuel map and the bikes will probably out-ride you.

My recently-owned 6-speed Super Glide would run the curves with any of my BMW and Guzzi bikes. Ditto for my late model Road King.

An awesome thing about the Big Twin is that, in 6th gear on the Interstate, it turned barely over 3000 rpm's and produced 45 MPG!

People have been saying that since about 1936, and for the same reason ... lazily loping down the long highway in top gear.   Been their signature for 80 years now ....

So.... $2000 suspension upgrade to get a Harley to handle like any other stock motorcycle?

OK, but I think Harleys must handle great.  I've only seen Harley riders spend $2000 on chrome and pipes.  Those guys don't waste money on shocks and fork upgrades.  Next you'll want to spend another grand on brakes?  WTF?

No you don't have to spend $2k on a Harley suspension to "make it handle like any other stock motorcycle."

Well, maybe LowR is a tad extreme looking for Ohlins on a Harley... but then again, we have people spending upwards of $1k on a V7 suspension, which is a higher percentage of the purchase price.

Actually I've seen people swap out suspensions on ANY OTHER STOCK MOTORCYCLE too, so what does this have to do with the conversation.

It seems the focus moves away from sport/sport touring and more into big cruisers or small blocks, is all.

Admittedly, that's a prototype, but that is horrible. There is no reason that a competent model maker can't make something that is indistinguishable from  "production."

Yeah.  Beautiful carbon fibre fender skirt, then that bargain basement LED strip glued in place (poorly) to represent tail lights.

Kind of strange...

Cool but if the mufflers are going to stay that low the bags should be redesigned so the bottoms run parallel with them.  That niggling observation aside, I like it.

Someone did go Ohlins in Australia with the 1.9 litre motor on a road king from distant memory and took it to a track day as eastern creek/Sydney Motorsport park. Basically the upshot was it wasn't just the suspension that had issues the frame struggled as well. The thing wallowed down the main strait the suspect culprit was frame stiffness or lack there of. Its top speed on the straight was what the sport bikes slow down to for turn one, basically the upshot was you get them to handle better buy throwing lots of money at them there is however some serious limits with the inherit engineering.

I'm not going to argue some heresay from some Aussie track day with a Road King except to say that I'm sure the speeds involved where far north of what should remotely be attempted on the street.

If not the bike in question was set up by morons as my EVO RK with stock suspension was better than that.

Looks like a carbon front wheel. Hmmm.

I'm not too fond of the goofy angle to the tailpipe.

I like the concept of the screen if not the execution.

The front wheel's pretty.

But... WTF's with that exhaust? Needs a dose of Viagra.

Sure, they'll put a 21 inch front wheel on a California, but not the Stelvio.
