This. I use wire nuts frequently for temporary repairs and lots of times it becomes a permanent repair. Twist it on, fill the hollow with RTV, presto, watertight connection.

Yeah -- about that -- I was being sarcastic.  IMO nothing says "there was nobody to hold my beer while I did this" like wire nuts and skotch-loks hanging off a smoking wire harness.

Chuck -- Got that FAAology book handy?  Does it say why ALL the wires in an airplane are the same color (white?)

I ended up soldering the connections.  It was for points and condenser, behind a flywheel, so space was limited.  Not room for the posi-lock connectors.  Although with that cramped space my soldering wasn't pretty at all.

Fyi, I've used posi-tap connectors before, to tap into the bike's wire harness, and they are Great!  Really.

Will test out the posi-locks another time.

I found this interesting thread.  Notice the photos a page or so down:

Jim, It looks like the connections were poorly done generating heat.  Over time corrosion can build up on any connector causing the same condition. As posted above Posi-Locks are not my first choose but the ones on my SP have been in use for many years a 30K + miles. In my opinion they are a PIA to make correctly.
