Sticker Removal

Anyone have any good ideas for removing stickers from fuel tanks? I am surprised at the number of stickers plastered to my new bike, and some of them are not even straight!

Hair dryer? Goo Gone? Sand paper?

There have to be at least 2 or 3 threads on this here.  Do a quick search if the hairdryer isn't working for you.  (though that's the best method for most of the stickers)

I use a hair dryer, then get em started with the edge of a credit card

WD40!  That and the hairdryer should get it.

Use a hair dryer judiciously!! I used one and the paint bubbled off!!  DAMN!!

Hairdryer will do the trick. I just removed stickers on a spare tank, and side panels from a fellow board member here in order to repaint them. Sorry, I couldn't help myself here.

Make sure the tank is full or the heat will disipate.

Sandpaper? If that doesn't work maybe a chisel and a hammer. Just make sure you wear safety glasses.

WD-40, paper towels, a hair dryer, my debit card, and an hour of time. All seven stickers are now gone (five on the tank and one on each pannier).

The glue is very sticky/adhesive, and the stickers are very fragile... Patience and perseverance are required.

 Air chisel.  I have one that is adjustable for speed and power and the blade only moves about a thousandth of an inch per stroke.

Save the stickers that reflect federal safety compliance and emissions compliance in case the bike is sold to an out of state buyer. The People's Republik of Kalifornia gave me a world of grief because my 03 Stone Touring, bought from a KY first owner, didn't have the decals.  I only was able to register it in this state because Piaggio sent me a letter attesting to that VIN's compliance with all regulations.  I'd have had a nice red parts pile, otherwise.
