Shock absorbers for V7
« on: March 14, 2015, 12:18:13 PM »
I'v got a V7 Special 2014 and would like to upgrade my rear shocks but don't want to break the bank . Thinking of purchasing the Bitubo, Hagon, or Ikons.
$200-$400 dollar range. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Banks are built to be broken.  ::)
I bought a pair of Mupo shocks from Todd Egan. Love the change in the bike.
And with all those dollars out of the wallet it felt even lighter.

+1. Save up and get some good ones.  I spent money on Bitubos.  They bottomed out, a little better than the stock ones, but not much.  Wound up giving them away.  Wasted $$

Key is getting the correct spring rate for the bike and rider.  Purchase the spring/shock combo from someone who will deliver what you need and not leave you to guess.  Traxxion Dynamics sell Bitubo shocks.  A friend of mine recently sourced his from there and is well pleased.  Matt Wiley of Race-Tech recommended YSS to me when I asked about economical shocks. (Race-Tech doesn't sell economical shocks)  Also, Hagon USA should offer the help you need to get it right.  Key is getting the proper spring rate.

My own story is that I bought Progressive Suspension shocks in what their site recommended as heavy duty.  The price was right.  The laden sag was too much and I'm dragging hard parts.  I bought another pair of springs and a tool to change them.  Price is not right anymore and I really don't like the progressive spring ride.  Lesson learned.

I bought the Ikons from MG 4 yrs ago. Made 1 small adjustment initially, haven't touched them since. Really good shocks for the money

What is the proper size (length) shock for the V7 special?

If it's the same as my V7 Classic, then 390mm or 15.35"
