fork/wheel install

Looking at the factory service cd for the Café Sport shows the axle inserted from the right and the retaining nut on the left, relative to being seated on the bike. Mine is the opposite and it came that way. Ohlins forks.

The Sport 1100 in the garage also has the axle going from left to right, Marzocchi forks. Ditto on the Mille.

I have a weepy left fork seal on the V11 that refuses all ministrations to seal itself (sealmate) and this started after a new tire install. I cannot see how a change in axle direction could affect the seal properties but....

The PO had the forks rebuilt by Ohlins two years ago.

the order of how you tighten the axle (+ nut) and pinch bolts can deflect the forks if not done properly. can deflection lead to leaking? IDK
