EV substitute breather hose 63318 coil bracket too
« on: April 06, 2015, 04:51:00 PM »
My bike had a straight piece of stainless braided hose in place of the original preformed hose.  The installation was an abortion, so I picked up Goodyear pn 63318 for $10 or so.  I don't have the original hose to compare to.  Who has used this one and does it actually fit?  It looks too long.  It's the one with two preformed curves.  I had assumed the correct part was $80.  I see it's less than $20.  Is it worth the bother to mess with this?

While I'm futzing with this thing, I discovered my coils flopping around.  The vibration isolators failed.  I've applied PC7 epoxy paste to repair them.  It's supposed to bond to metal and to rubber.  I guess I'll find out.

Also, I'm looking at what I believe is the fuel pressure regulator.  Is it vented to atmosphere, or is it supposed to have a hose connected to the right side?

Will I have to remove the fuel filter to replace the coil bracket?  If that's the case, it might make the hose installation easier.

I can answer part.
No the pressure regulator doesn't have a hose on the barb, it uses that to sense atmospheric pressure.
I think at one time they may have used it to adjust fuel pressure in some way but not on any Guzzis.

Hey Marty,                   I use heater hose w/spring inside it. Cheap in price, keeps it's shape.

No little hose on pressure reg, just to air.
Coils come off w/o having to take off fuel filter.

So, the bike is coming along ok?

What it's going to take is me working on it.  I'm motivated to do that.  I just did the hardest part.  I got started.

I think it may have come standard with braided hose for the main fuel line from petcock to pump, at least that's what mine has.

Ran a generic hose for a breather on my EV. For whatever reason it only lasted about 10,000 miles. Replaced that with stock. If I ever need a new one it'll be stock. Discussed a few years ago here with some pics:
