G&G deep sump install
« on: April 13, 2015, 07:09:47 AM »
i have installed a G&G deep sump on my 2003 EVT...
there is a hole on the rear side that looks like it is for a drain plug...
the actual drain plug is on the bottom.
the kit did not come with anything to plug this hole nor by the pics is it supposed to...
anybody got any ideas?
the hole is visible on the MGCYCLE website for this product.
Any and all help is appreciated:)

It looks to me like that is a construction hole and needs to be plugged. Most likely, Gordon can get you the proper plug.

I just installed one from MG cycle as well.  The only hole not filled on mine was the drain hole on the bottom.

Will the drain plug from your original sump fit?  It looks to be in the same spot.

My G&G is still sitting on the bench, came with plug installed. Check your package to see if it fell out, or came separated?
Something wistful and amusing, yet poignant.

Mine did not come with one installed.
Can't ride the bike until then.

Why does he not send you a new one that is complete instead of making you wait till something comes from someone else.

For that situation on our products we would offer what we refer to as a "return authorization" and we send a UPS call tag.  Which is quickly followed up after we received the item back by a full refund including the original shipping cost.

But , That is just the way we are ;-T

You guys have come a long way from the old days. Back in the late 1980's I ordered a pair of dogleg levers for my CX, got sent either 2 lefts or 2 rights , don' t remember which anymore , but when I called I suggested that I would just order another pair for my other bike, but 2  lefts or rights instead of a correct pair, and I was told that I would  have to first return the 2 I received or nothing else could be done. The bad taste of that transaction  remained in my memory since then.

He only needs to wait if he wants to.  He could run down to the parts house and get the plug and washer for a couple of bux, or he could just keep the spacer on the shelf until the part is delivered and install it at that time.

I like the design.  It does away with the extra parts needed on some of these conversions, and it hides the filter in a well where it's both accessible and well protected.
