Certainly looks like a 4 cyl. liquid cooled single OH cam (one on each bank) Italian engine.  Probably 2 valve.  Where did the picture come from?  I'd be interested in knowing what it's provenance is.

I was faked out by the 4 exhausts, the german link shows the 2 cyl heads with cross valves, each with its own port.  But it is liquid cooled.

Those links did indeed provide a clue, but as I neither speak nor read German that's about all.

What I have gleaned is that it is a Guzzi motor that has been developed into a water cooled unit with a new head/valve arrangement by some German crowd.

The photo came from a photography blog with no info attached.

John, try reading it in Google Chrome.  Right-click on the page and select "translate to English."

Admittedly, the translations aren't great, which is why I said the citations give only a clue, but it is better than nothing.
