Programmable annunciator

All this talk about lights reminds me that I'd left my running lights on after I got back from lunch.

So I went and turned them off.

Sometimes I lose track of whether I'm here or over at the Halfbakery - something I'd really like to have for the bike would be a device that I could hook up to the signals and lights that would remind me of my responsibilities.

So when I forget to cancel a turn signal, a feminine voice in an Italian accent would calmly say "Left, left, left". I guess there should be the option to have her say "sinistra, sinistra..."

And when I shut the bike down and the running lights, which are on an unkeyed circuit, go forgotten, after ten seconds a grumpy italian guy would say " spegnere le luci ! "

or you could put them on a key'd circuit?  if you forget long enough the bike won't start and may not even bump start if battery gets that low..

I scavenged some of those door/seatbelt buzzers from a wreck and installed them in my turn signal circuits.  Now it has a high beep for left and a low beep for right.  The beeping makes me feel just stupid enough going down the road that I'm enthusiastic about cancelling the blinkers.

A guy could generalize that to a normally closed relay in the headlight circuit that would only come on if the headlight was on and the key was off.  I'd have to sketch out the wiremap for it, but it would be much the same as the buzzer in your car that tells you you left your lights on.

If installing a relay, why not just wire it so the ignition or headlight has to be on to enable the running lights?  Why add a noisemaker, which would just be another device to check when things don't seem to be working right?
