I probably have the only other SP around that has a custom Raceco motor in it like the one on ebay. Bought it from a member last year. Mine had the 'Killer Goose' package that Manfred offered at the time. Dual plugged, 390 cam. 90mm Weisco pistons, race cam, new top end, 40mm dell orto's, lightened flywheel, timing gears, Enduralast kit, Best part is that the bike has only had 3k miles since the motor work was done so it's super fresh. I'm putting a new exhaust on it this month to get more power.

A customer of mine has a Raceco modified SP "hot-rod" - that makes two I've had here.

While you're reminiscing about your old SPs ..... on the red-and-white '83 one you sold Paul Linn and he traded to me, do you remember whether you ever replaced the rear main seal on the engine?   It's apart now, not leaking, 40,000 miles showing, and I didn't want to fool with it if you were already in there .... ?

Rear main seal is one of those things that if I can see it, I replace it.

What kind of puller do you use?   Will homemade with sheet-metal screws work?   And how does the flange on the end of the crank come off?

It is pretty easy to pry out. There is a tool to facilitate getting the new seal onto the crank without damage. I have that tool, if'n you end up needing to borrow PM me.

I didn't own that bike long enough to do much to it. I got that bike and then shortly thereafter I traded it to Paul Linn for his "Elvira" (I think). I still have the bike, but about 3 of the original parts remain (frame, floorboards, headlight).

Does one have to "worry" about any chrome bores on these 1983 SP's? or are they iron lined.

The '81 (imported from Italy privately) that I worked on a few years ago had Nigusil and PHFs.
