Thanks, that link is interesting as I was wondering exactly how they should be measured because if upright (as shown in the Haynes manual) then the measurement is significantly less.
I took my measurements with the carb slightly inclined until the float would just sit against the valve but not fully depress the spring as that's the way I'm used to doing it for FCRs on my Monster.
Carbs currently fitted with AB265 needle jet, K5 needle, 148 main and 60 idle which, apart from the 148 main, tally with the manual. Don't know why the main is so big as the bike had stock exhausts? although I am now fitting Lafranconi competizione with 40mm downpipes so need to look into that when it's running.
