Grab rails (which the short rack lacks) are real handy for strapping things to the rear seat.

My Stucchi has no grab rails -  Have the C-Bow bags.  I can still strap gear to the rails that bolt to the shocks.  Like most racks, I did have to remove the stock grab rails.

I wouldn't buy my Griso rack that I bought from AF1 Racing, it's cheaper and stronger suspender snap but you have to drill holes in the rear bodywork and take it off when you take off the rear bodywork.

The rear two supports are vertical so the weight is bearing down on that part of the frame.  The front two bolts do nothing else and the loads are upward when the rack is loaded.  Generally my loads spread onto the rear seat section also so there's a lesser proportion of weight on the rack.  Mostly the rack keeps the load from shifting under braking and accelerations.       :bike-037:

What are you planning on carrying?

I'd like to be able to go on 2-up short camping trips. That's probably the largest haul. For daily stuff, I have a couple kriega dry bags that I'll keep on there.

If you are going two up at all, get the larger one. Pillions really like the grab rails. It seems to give them confidence even though they might not use them much.

The larger one also comes with threaded mounting points for a frame for mounting saddlebags - handy when two up camping when you've lost the use of the seat for luggage. Like this ....

It does change the look a little, but so very handy. There are other options.
