Spare parts supply

Doing a crank up rebuild on Mark III's bike at the moment after it ingested some tappet parts. After a bit of umming and aahing I decided to replace the oil pump. Well, there was nil stock in Sydney and not available at any of my usual suppliers so I bit the bullet and ordered one in from the importer. That was a week- 10 days ago.

Ordered ex-Italy it left Sydney this morning for Bungendore. I personally think that's damned good service!

Makes a nice change, I got used to waiting for months before eventually giving up.

Maybe it's time to revisit the local dealer network.

Reminds me, in a bad way, about my late T'bird triple. I had decided to replace it with a Rocket 3 and duly ordered one, as none were even in the country. While waiting, the regulator on my T'bird died and the dealer ordered a part. Six weeks later the part arrived and was installed the next week or so.
As soon as I had it back, I cancelled the order for the Rocket and advertised the T for sale.

Sorry for hijacking Vasco; I just could not help myself.

Not the sharpest tool in the shed but I can see an issue with Guzzi parts supply.

I had a 1972 Eldorado in 1979. It is much easier getting parts today than it was then.

Normally you should first ask the importer and let them do what they are there fore.
But I suppose experience from the past, made you have more faith in seconday suppliers.

It's also a matter of price Paul. On some but not all components the price here can be astronomical while from the USA it can be a fraction of the 'Local' price.
