Looks like it will be mid to late Friday afternoon arrival for me, unless I decide to detour thru Mena on the way up and then it might be early evening!  Save me a camping spot please!

I was hoping to get away Thursday evening, but that seems very unlikely now, so it will be a longer haul starting early Friday morning.

Dusty.  I'm in New York City.  Help!

Plan to be there.  Late, late Friday.   Or sorta early Saturday.

Was supposed to be on the road now, but took a tumble off the back steps in the dark last evening; resulting in a sprained ankle, bruised knee and hip with skinned up elbow. Take pics and post, please!!

Going to be a rainy afternoon in the Talihina area today, with the cold front pushing through.

Getting it out of the way early is good, though. Hopefully no evening thunderstorms.

Tomorrow should be a beautiful fall day in the Winding Stair Mountains.

Perfect weather this weekend.  Great campout.  A fella could wait many years to get the mountain as clear as it was yesterday.  I spent 4 hours up on top of that beauty.  Thanks to Doug and Dusty and all those that showed up to help us keep these things going.

Guess I am really lucky as I was on Dusty's mountain ride yesterday and this was my first time to these mountains. Wonderfull ride & scenery. When we returned I felt like I had workout from putting the Norge through the paces. I love return rides on Sundays when traffic is generally lower and less law enforcement out. Left Talamina at 7:30 this morning and was home at 2:45 and just shy of 400 miles. A Norge will eat the miles if you can give her some loose rein.  :thumb: Also had some great interactions with locals and some biker type folk at the motel. Thanks to all responsible for a great time.

Dang , we had a great time this year , warm weather , no fog on the mountain , some new younger attendees , made a few new friends and caught up with some old ones , all in all simply a tremendous time . JN my old Okie buddy , hope you saw how we honored your memory .

Just a few things to mention .

1 Our coon ass friends are a hoot and the Fri night gumbo was amazing , and several of us were made honorary coon asses , pretty cool in my book  :thumb:

2 The Kansas contingent , well , you guys know how we all feel about you

3 For the first time in years , the Okies came out in force , good to see everyone

4 Rocker only thinks he is faster on his fast bike than on his "Little bike"

5 Fubar deserves a break , and his lovely S.O. is a real trooper

6 Luap is absolutely hilarious , and in combination with Chet they can play some wicked practical jokes

7 As always , Doug is incredible , thanks .

8 Hope everyone made it home alright .

9 Oh , yes the ride on Sat was spirited , fun to ride with folks that are so competent on their motorbikes  :thumb:

More later after my mind returns to normal , but thanks to everyone for making this one so good

It was a good one. Thanks to all who pitched in and kept things rolling.
 The weather was great.

Made it home fine. That rear tire held out. But pretty much used up now. Jackals gettin' new rubber over the winter so no big deal. Odom turned over 81,100 on the way home. that means I have made it 62,000 with my Jackal. Every mile has been worth it meeting all my camp-out friends!

Thanks go to Doug who shelled out the time and effort to cook all weekend. The local grocery store is changing owners and was nearly cleaned out. He made it work and we had some great grub all weekend. Hope the donations and t-shirt sales made the weekend a positive for ya. Thanks!!!!!!!!

Thanks to all the story tellin' around the camp fires. It was great to end my camp-out season with a great one! And I am one of the RCA's also. Thanks guys, I think I now have a theme for my project bike build.

Hope everyone made it home ok.

See ya at CedarVale in 2016!

Whew!  435 miles door to door this morning with most of the roads mostly to myself and a few other riders, left Talimena State Park promptly at 8 this morning and rode some FUN sweepers on the way home.  Highway 2 in OK is a good one!  With a few stops along the way to stretch, gas up and fuel the steel horse and myself, I made it home to Houston in 8 hours - the Norge just purrs along non stop with nary a hiccup.  Overall mileage for the 3 day weekend was close to 1150 including an extremely fun and circuitous ride up to Mena from Houston on Friday, wicked wicked fog on the Talimena Byway late Friday afternoon, but then a chance for a repeat Saturday morning with impeccable temps and a chance to appreciate the great views up top on a clear day!

Made it over to Mena and ran into Dave (Galveston) - we each had our return routes to run back to Talimena Park...he took the south, I took the north and ran thru to Lake Wister, Heavener and back.  Ran into another Guzzi owner and his cousin in Mena driving a Griso...hope they had a chance to stop by during the day to visit.

Many many thanks to Dusty and Doug for hosting and putting on a great event...super to meet a lot of the folks on the board face to face and match names, faces and personalities!  :)

Fubar...next time the drinks are on me...many thanks for sharing that special recipe!  Hope P. is ok!

Bill...thoroughly enjoyed our adventure chats and conversations on a whole host of topics...catch you on the road one of these days.

Luap and crew...great to meet you all as well and share part of the Kansas campfire.

Beaver, Preston...great to see you both again...seems like just a week ago we were all in Lindale!  :)

Cheers all!
Paul

p.s.  Looking forward now to Harvest Classic in Luckenbach...see some of you all there again shortly!

Well on the way home, after some rides in the twisties Darren and I got as far as Stigler.  Stopped for breakfast and my rear tire was GONE.  I mean huge chunks of rubber missing.  Even some of the cord was shredded.  (I thought the bike was handling poorly.)  I tiptoed it at 30 mph until we got to I-40.  I thought I might get my sister at her lake house but she was gone on vacation.  I was about to look for a UHaul when Darren called his son to bring the trailer.

Darren and I watched Moto GP on his phone while we waited.  We got home after 4 today.

Thanks Darren.  Yes, I was stupid.
