Eldorado and Audace in Motorcyclist, Sep 15

Gave the Eldo 7/10 points.  Liked the looks, handling and performance.

The Audace was more of a hot rod with better power but not quite as good handling.  No floorboards, conventional shifter and headlight, and less money.  The larger tires are cited as slowing the handling compared to Eldo.

The pegs on the Audace are the #1 selling point for me.. The only member of the cali14 family that interests me for just that reason. The round light is just a plus!

I suppose you could replace the boards with pegs on any of the 1400 series

But why would you? These are cruisers, and the boards give you space to move your feet around to take advantage of the spread-out riding position these bikes offer. Comfort, not aggressive control are what these machines are about.

good point Larry.  The shifter and pegs are pretty well forward.  So the boards would give you a little more room

The pegs and absolutely everything else about the Audace are meant to attract those riders who like a bit more "sport" in their cruiser. Guzzi is showing the Audacity to do something different to try and bring in non-guzzi riders to the fold.

I think the Audace is the testing field to see if anyone will buy the MGX-21, because that's going to be a further step in the same direction.

I saw some conjecture somewhere that Eve, his wife, might travel with him. I know for a fact she's not going to be riding a Stelvio! She also won't be able to help him pick up a fully loaded stelvio...

Still... I'm glad to see Guzzi sponsoring this trip, it will be MUCH needed publicity. Now let's just hope the thing doesn't break down on the way there...

 Is Charlie Boorman not making the trip ?

 And yes , let's hope the bikes run flawlessly during the trip , I don't think VDG can take anymore questions and doubts re modern Guzzi reliability
