  Why is it that NOWHERE on the internet can I find a site that will translate the letter designations on motorcycle batteries?
 Like AZT12SBS.  What does AZT mean? The 12 is most likely 12 volts, then what does SBS mean?
  I think the SBS means sonofabitch sucks.

 Or how about PTX-BS?  I don't know what the PTX tells but the BS is obviously meaning bullshit.

 These are two different batteries supposedly for my Honda 750.
 How is the customer supposed to know what he is buying?
  It's as if the battery manufacturers don't want the customer to know how to identify a battery.
 I have looked all over the internet and none of the battery wizards will tell.

Power sports batteries are not quite as standardized as car batteries so its a bit tougher. Working in parts for 12 years this could be a frustration. Generally, the letters ahead of the number are proprietary for the battery manufacture and the number is a size. A 4 is a small battery, a 12 is bigger and a 16 is bigger yet.  So if the numerical part is the same it should be close in size.... but post configuration could be different. Ive seen designations like 12bs, 12lbs, to denote such things. As an auto parts guy I always wanted the battery in hand and the application just to be sure.  Sorry to not help you, but it isn't you. This is normal.

  Thankyou Rodekyl,  The sonic address comes close to answering but not quite what I was looking for.
 I found a plethora of info on volts, amp hours, cold crank etc.,  All stuff I already knew.
 Since none of the manufacturers will fess up to what the initials mean, I can only surmise that I was correct in that it is all smoke and mirrors bullshit to prevent customers from understanding what they are purchasing so they can over charge.

VOILA!  On another site I asked the same questions. One of the members translated for me.
 AZT  = Arizona, Tucson as battery origin,- S B S = sealed battery system
 
  PTX = Paris Texas battery origin, - B S = battery storage, but I still think it is bullshit.
 How he knew this stuff, I don't know.  Why the battery manufacturerers don't tell this on their fact sheets just shows they are afraid to
 own up to their product if something fails.
  The guy at the Dalco store, ( yes that's Dalco not Delco ) told me the AZT meant it would discharge more power in a short time
 to meet the needs of an electric starter.  So I was right about the bullshit too.
 Anyway thanks for helping.

Recently I got a AZT, SBS, AGM battery and so far am quite happy with it.    Stay away from BatteryMart AGM batteries.    When you get an AGM battery make sure it's charged up to 14 volts if you want it to last.

I just replaced my V7c battery - a 3 year old AGM type that I suspected was getting weak, with a cheaper MF type like the original that came with the bike.

I found this cross reference on line that made it easier to shop for the right physical size.

Stay away from BatteryMart AGM batteries.   

Huh?? BatteryMart's AGMs are made by East Penn Mfg. and are also sold under the Deka brand name. Excellent batteries, about all I've installed in customer bikes for the last 5 years. If they were somehow unsatisfactory, I'm sure one of my customers would have let me know by now.
