that low fuel rod doesnt work on my bike anyways. its called a thermisor. i googled it. i thought i broke it so i had to investigate
Yes, a thermistor on the end of the rod. It should measure about 1k ohm it you test it.
I bent mine so the light comes on at a more reasonable point. It used to come on with over 50 miles left on the tank. I would tend to ignore it. And I would then be out of gasoline with an unhappy passenger.

When the hose came off on mine, I repaired it along the side of the road. It isn't easy getting that assembly back in the tank, but it can be done. I think it swells up once it is pulled out.
