Looking at an 01 Jackal anything model specific that I should be aware of? Besides Veglia gauges?

Steel rims with tubes, single front disc. Hopefully by now it has some better shocks mounted.

So did my EV.  Mine also came with extra braking, fancier suspension, a fat rear fender  and the cheap tart trim.  The kid's Jackal didn't.  We start and stop our rides together.  The Jackal is worthy.   :thumb:

When the mighty Jackal set out from Anchorage those guys behind us said we had the wrong bikes for the job.  We have our tents up in Dawson City, YT.  They're checking in.

Gratuitous glamor shot.

So the Jackal in question does have dual front discs. Were these still integrated? How is the trans on these? As good as the six speeds?

The mighty Jackal comes with a single front disk.  Many have upgraded to duals.  It's a chore to retrofit for integrated/linked brakes, so the mod is probably plumbed to pump both from the front.

Does this one have pegs or floorboards?

This one has pegs. Brakes must've been pretty shoddy to upgrade to a dual setup on a cruiserish type bike.... Appreciate the feedback btw.

Actually there is nothing wrong with the stock single front disc , it is a Gold Line 4 piston Brembo after all . Just takes more force to make the front tire howl than a dual setup . The '01 model even has a braided brake line .

I thought the single disc Jackal was perfectly adequate. I only upgraded mine when I put a hack on it.

I thought the single disc Jackal was perfectly adequate.

This.

I'm 185#, 6'. Recently been going 2up with my 115# daughter. I keep expecting to experience inadequate braking due to wary comments I've read on the single disc. I find it provides more than enough grip.  Got caught in a midwest downpour while 2up last night. As previously mentioned she road like she was on a rail. I was stunned when I first put my feet down at a light, and they nearly slipped out from under me. I'd felt none of that while underway. A week without a drop of rain left a wonderful oil glaze on everything. I've got Pilots with less than 3000 mi...but still.

I love the simplicity of the Jackal, particularly as one new to bike ownership. If it's been well maintained, and regularly ridden, I'll wager you can't find a better used machine, dollar per pound. Fast, versatile, reliable. Had one of our dealers here get me original handlebar controls for a 15 yr old Italian bike in less than a week recently. Between that kind of support and the knowledge of the folks on this board....I can't think of a better bet.

Sounds like a previous owner took the bike pretty seriously. I'd say go for it, if the price is reasonable.

Rodekyll, any idea what screen is on the Jackal in this shot? I continue to wish for something slicker than the big ol' barn door I've got.

And that shot is not conducive to my productivity. Gorgeous.

I have one of those on my '01 V11 Jackal I rode behind on the cross country trek... it works, oh, I did stick a Laminar Lip on it...

I am swapping it for a recently purchased H & H Fairing though, we live in teh Northern climate...  thhis will offer more weather protection.

Best,
Rob

No. I don't know what kind of screen it is.  But it's just gawdawful enough that the PO sold it to the kid for ~$20 and he thought he was robbed.  Another accessory he'll be happy to file is the sidebag arrangement.  But neither of those are the Jackal. They're just stuff.
