Can you answer this question?
« on: August 27, 2015, 04:50:18 PM »
I just recently purchased (and am now enjoying) a new, beautiful 2014 V7 Special in silver/black.

Does this make me awesome?

I think it does, but I thought I should first seek out the unbiased and independent views of other Moto Guzzi enthusiasts.

Thanks in advance.

Are the stickers still on it?

If yes, then no, not awesome at all.

Welcome to the club,  as it breaks in, you're going to love your V7 even more.

You won't truly be awesome until you ask a question that gets Pete fired up!

Questions about 'awesome' should be directed toward squealing 'tweenies in overtight pants, not full-grown adults.   :boozing:

But does it make you 'worthy'?  I'd say so.  The small block is the up and coming thing, and the color scheme is my second favorite (behind white/black).  :thumb:

Already, there are some insightful replies!

I like and appreciate the distinction between "awesome" and "worthy".

Of course, the stickers came off forthwith.

What does it take to get Pete worked up? A stupid question? I'll have plenty of those...

Seriously, though, I already love this bike.

Congrats, I have the same BEST color Special.

Pete loves to talk about increasing the HP with aftermarket pipes.

Fixed that for you, Cam.  Everyone knows that black and orange is the best.

HoboRob, Pete also loves questions about finding ways to get more horsepower out of the modern V7s, and don't forget to mention the Power Commander option.

The trail from " awesome " leads back to " awe "...

Full Definition of AWE
1
:  an emotion variously combining dread, veneration, and wonder that is inspired by authority or by the sacred or sublime <stood in awe of the king> <regard nature's wonders with awe>

You might feel awesome, but I think you'd have difficulty inspiring awe in others.

But, let me add my congrats to the others, and my envy for your new bike
That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

Pete is REALLY a big fan of loud pipes also , louder the better  :bike-037: Really , the first mod to his ex 1400 was to remove the mufflers and install a "loud pipes save lives" sticker

What does it take to get Pete worked up? A stupid question? I'll have plenty of those...

let's see:

-Can I run 5w30 oil in the V7?  It's in my car.
-Can I run 87 octane gasoline in my V7?  It's in my car.
-Can I get more horsepower out of my V7? I have a $250 budget.

Stuff like that.

Rob -- it's customary to give up your favorite lentil soup recipe when you join WG.  If you don't do lentils, then some other bean or pea soup.  Trust me -- it's an unwritten requirement.     :food:

While Pete had his 1400 stashed at my house after he and Jude rode cross country on it, he did nothing but complain about how quiet it was. After he left, I realized I needed to help my friend. I was going to with some simple open drag pipes, then I found a set of open fishtails that really made the sound, and the look he was after.  But I didn't stop there, I got a PCV with Autotune, and had the ECU reflashed.  It only got 7 miles per gallon and gas was dripping out the pipes, but man was it sweet.  I don't think Pete has ever figured out how to thank me for that.....  Oh, and I told him, with all the gas it was getting, it must be running cooler, so no need for decent oil, I actually found some paraffin based oil at a USA gas station, it was only .79 cents a quart so I bought a bunch.  The bike loved it, and the great part was that it was able to use this oil to lubricate the engine, how else would the oil go down, so I kept adding oil.  Never need an oil change with this stuff, just keep adding.... Pete is a true friend, and I was happy I could help my good buddy

Now you guys giving Pete a hard time should know, he's never given me a hard time at all, even though my 2v Norge has a reflashed ECU, PV-V, Autotune w/ wideband sensor, a K&N and all that stuff he hates. Maybe it's because it's a 2v, maybe it's because I got my guys to be helpful when he stopped in Las Vegas, and maybe it's because he forgot I had all that stuff (ooops!  :lipsrsealed: ). I don't know.

Now, as far as the OP is concerned, he will be awesome once he has that beastie broken in, and then uses it for a Saddlesore 1000. Easy-peasy! I did it on my Baby Breva...
