Damn...maybe a single seat version would be better, but that is fuuuugly.

Now we're different heights so maybe that's the difference. But I can't see a driver's backrest doing anything on the V7 for me. I've got an ever so slight lean forward. You really think it would make a difference?

My Jackal was different - seat seemed somehow lower to the frame, the bars came back a little more I dunno. But the riding position was definitely different.

Besides - Russell? Not just no - F NO!

  Yeah, that dually looks kinda hideous, eh?  The single on a Stone on Russell's website - at least what you can make out of the photograph since it's not wide out from the bike - does appear slightly more attractive but put a ribbon on a donkey and it's still not a pony, right?

As per the backrest I too considered this but in truth it was the same for me on my California Stone whose bars were shorter than the Cali Special and - if I recall correctly - even the Jackal before that I owned.  I used the backrest mainly on long slab journeys where I would set the Go Cruise and lean back to straight up position with my left hand still on the bars.  The more I think about it, however, the more I just don't think I would mostly use it on the V7.  My most enjoyable trips these days on any bikes usually involve me stopping about every 80 miles or so and stretching or walking around a short bit.  In this case, a backrest really would not come much into play.

I have never cared for Corbins.  I've had several Mayers, both Rick and Bill (Rocky) and they are great but are around $600.  Lately, I've gotten several "Seat Concepts" deals.  They supply foam and cover and you put it on your pan.  Takes around 30' or so and is much less expensive.  They will also customize to some extent.  They don't list anything but maybe I'll contact them.

I've contacted Seat Concepts to see if they will start making some.  I've been real happy with them, they supply foam and cover and you do the rest.  They are "behind" and that means 5-10 days to get your seat, which is an indicator of their self expectations.

Russell now has a "Sport" seat on their website. I spoke with them about making one for my Norge. A lot less "F...NO". They sounded very accommodating. I have a spare seat pan and the seat would be more an attempt to make my wife comfy than me. They said they would do a "Sport" front section and a "Daylong" rear section for my wife..... And I would ride solo with the one I am using now.

Stay safe, John

I have a Russell Sport seat on my Tiger 1050.  It's still a boat.
And, not as comfortable to me as my Tiger seat from BMS, which was 2/3 the cost of the Russell.

On the books and a build date set for October 8th with Loren at Baldwin.  I'll update with pics and report once I get it back and put on a few miles.

NICE - GOOD CHOICE!

Definitely want to see that when it is done. And hear about it.

I don't think I'd personally go with the brown on my white Stone. Though I don't think it would look bad, I don't think it will look as AWESOME as it will on yours!

I wimped out and am just going with the black vinyl though I do think dark tan looks nice on these green ones similar to the Tenni Grisos.  I dunno, guess I have until the 8th to figure it out  :thumb:
