2013 V7 Stone vs. 2007 750 Breva

I recently had the opportunity to ride a 2007 Breva. It was an adequate but very sedate bike. By comparison the two 2013 V7 Stone's I've ridden felt like little hotrods. Completely different engine feel. I was surprised by the difference. Has anybody else experienced this?

You are right. It was a 2007 Breva.

I thought they had the same motor.  I ride a 2005 Breva 750 with Mistral race pipes on it, it is quite musical and makes the most of its 35 hp.  It has a givi wind screen and a small givi top box and serves well as a city bike, although it took it on a 250 mile ride through the fun forest roads of the Big Thicket in E. Texas today and found it a fun and comfortable ride.

Very similar engines but not identical. Different ECU, Throttle Bodies, combustion chamber and piston skirt design. Single TB model is an all round much happier thing.

The Breva 750 would be much more comparable to the 2009-2012(us, 2011 EU) V7.

I recently rode a 2015 V7R. Compared to my highly modified '10 V7cc (electric, air/fuel, etc) , I was blown away at how nice it was, so peppy and fast. As you state with the Breva, it was completely different than my V7. I was surprised and happy for MG and their continued improvements.

I see you have an 07 Royal Enfield, and I used to own a 2010 Royal Enfield C5.  If you think the Breva 750 is sedate, in what category would you put your Enfield?

A 2007 Breva 750 and a 2009-2012 V7 Classic have the same driveline, so will feel the same in that regard.

The one thing the Breva has that's really different from the V7C is the 17-inch front wheel.  Some people have used the Breva wheels on their V7 Classics to quicken steering.

The 1TB 2013-up V7 Stone/Special/Racer have an engine with a different feel.  Very torquey at 3,000 rpm.  The difference is small on paper, but noticeable by Seat of the Pants.

Exactly, I knew all about the updates in 2013.  I was just surprised the difference was that noticeable. The Breva 750 wasn't slow, but it did have a relatively calm engine. The 2013 might not actually be any faster, but it has a rowdy personality.

I see you have an 07 Royal Enfield, and I used to own a 2010 Royal Enfield C5.  If you think the Breva 750 is sedate, in what category would you put your Enfield?   

I'm glad you brought up the Royal Enfield, because it made me think of the recent update (2009?) when RE updated their engine with fuel injection and other updates.  If we were to compare the pre-2009 bikes to the latest UCE bikes you can feel the minor differences but fundamentally the engines feel similar.  Not so with these two Guzzi 750's.
