Questions on 14 V7
« on: September 16, 2015, 03:08:51 PM »
Bought myself a V7 stone gorgeous looking little bike fun to ride
Didn't realise the engine differences
I have 1 TB engine can my ecu and codes be read altered by guzzidiag ?
I have a pair of short reverse mega phone exhaust which seem to run very well but are very loud I need to repack them with more wading.
Can I turn off lambda sensors with it to stop the popping on overrun ?
Never had a guzzi before always wanted a Le Mans since I was a teenager
Loving the V7 just want to clear up some confusion to what works on my bike
Thanks Darren

So far GuzziDiag cannot alter the mapping on a single throttle body. The only answer is Todd at GuzziTech, can go in and remap it.
You will have to remove the TB and ship to CA. Puter is part of TB.

What makes you think it's the 02 sensors that's causing the popping on overrun?

Start by getting rid of the crappy shorty exhaust pipes.  The popping and fireworks will go with them.

I've put standard pipes back on for now
Ran ok apart from a little pooping it. Actually ran well
Does the ecu learn settings as it seemed to run better after a while when I replaced standard pipes
I'm use to ktm which have a 15 min reset for ecu setting
Thanks for answers in in UK so won't be sending TB to CA

The RexXer Evo handheld flashing unit (rebranded open flash tablet, or so it seems) worked great on my single TB, 2015 V7 II (Europe). They support all models with the MIU3 iirc.

Somethat pricey (520 euro with shipping and thats inter-eu, so no further taxes beside German VAT) but their map is fantastic. I requested a tuned setup for the stock exhaust and air filters with O2 sensors disabled and they did deliver :)

RexXer/Danielle moto/ themselves it seems. They have a nice chart on g+ comparing the base, theirs and theirs modified tested on a dyno on a customer's bike. I haven't taken the plugs off but its definitely richer - I can smell it when starting in the garage and it pulls like nothing before. HP gain is minimal according to that dyno reading, something like 2hp at the top but torque is increased by a wide margin everywhere.

The process is basically read the base map, send it to them, wait a while and flash the replacement map that they send back.

edit: I remember seeing something that MIU3 bikes must be flashed only in place, otherwise issues with the immobiliser are to be expected. Best contact RexXer/Todd to be sure.

Strange that you say "HP gain is minimal according to that dyno reading, something like 2hp at the top but torque is increased by a wide margin everywhere."  HP is proportional to torque times rpm.  I can't understand how torque could be increased everywhere while HP gain is minimal.  Please explain.

Pardon me, I was comparing their off the shelf map vs the modified one while being enthusiastic about the ots torque vs base. Here's the G+ post  https://plus.google.com/108179059393518685271/posts/Qf3NNDg74ks

Thanks for the clarification.

It should be noted that the link and its chart refer to the 2013 MY 1-TB V7s.  Some time in 2014 MG came out with an updated map for the 1-TB V7s, which significantly improves the performance and eliminates cold running, popping, etc., issues.  It would be nice to see how the updated MG map compares to the "improved" maps shown in the link.

But with the older map cold running doesn't really happen at all
