A little Jackal airbox rant.
« on: September 17, 2015, 05:40:47 PM »
So, here I am, in the process of reassembling my Jackal after taking it apart and replacing the clutch and transmission. The cardan (I think that is what it is called) unit was rebuilt by John Chicoine and it looks like he did a great job.  Everything is going back together quite well in spite of, well, me. I have found that the most baffling part of reassembly is the airbox. I have learned that the guzzi is a puzzle and with patience, research and thinking it thru the secrets are revealed. Any trouble that I may have is due to my own inexperience and mechanical ineptitude. So far its been a lot of fun. However- what evil bastard designed that airbox and intake tube assembly? Holy crap in a bucket dude, I have spent more time trying to fit those pieces back together than on any other part of this project!
OK- rant over- deep breath- I am a qualified submariner and a retired pilot- I can do this. Back to the garage.

Damned airbox takes as long to mess with as a clutch replacement. I forget how I got it in but it seems I found a trick.

I think I had to remove one of the intake tubes (or maybe both) to get it in then stick the tube back in, space is tight in there.

The EV is the only bike in my garage that has an airbox.  If I have to remove it for some reason it'll be gone too.
