Fantastic aurora shots.  Is that a airplane contrail in the top shot?  Sometimes meteors leave burnout trails.

It's either a contrail or a genuine UFO in the process of a hard landing.

The contrail became visible as the moon was rising behind the hill.  I waited for the brightening effect of the moon on the vapor to reach the end of the trail and then took the frame.  As the moon rose to clear the hill, the contrail moved into the path of the rising moon.  They met at the tip of the hill in pic#3.  So it's all just the trickery of light and glass.

Here's one from two nights ago:

The spear of death thrown directly into poor Orion's heart . Great picture probably the best aurora picture I've seen.
Thanks, Bill

Rock on with the Spear of Death! Sweet! If you trace it back, it came from near Ursa Major (Great Bear doing one on the Hunter.)

I agree.  Those (and some of the others on your bucket page) are simply stunning.

I'd like to have or make prints of a few of them.

I do sell prints, although my business for that (Media Rare) has gone a bit feral since my partner quit.  I used to do a calendar every year and also wall art and note cards.  I did all the production and she was supposed to do the selling.  I've kept up my end, but somehow I can't get past the part where the marketing was her job.     At some point I'll have to start 'mining' my Alaskana photowork to finance my retirement.  I'll come to terms with it then.

I don't want to make luap's forum my active storefront.  But since you asked, if someone is interested in these or any others (tiny set of samples here  http://s226.photobucket.com/user/rodekyll1/library/misc/auroras?sort=3&page=1  but I have literally thousands of photos) PM me.  Please don't copy or 'buy' from the photobucket website.  It works out well for everyone but me.  :)
