V7 II Clutch Adjustment (Part Deux)

Okay, I probably have too much free play in my clutch
lever now. I don't seem to have any play in my clutch arm,
but I don't know if I'm looking at the right thing.

There is a horizontal arm in back of the gearbox that has the
cable connected to it via some kind of cylindrical thing (technical
term) that holds the cable. There is no movement that I can tell
from that arm to the gearbox, but, as I said above, I have plenty
of free play at the lever. So, how do I fix this for good? This is
really beginning to get annoying. I'm new at wrenching, so please
be kind. Dealer far enough away where I don't want to have to
go there. I know I can fix this myself.

There is a spring that holds the arm away from the gearbox...make sure you are overcoming that spring pressure when checking for free play at the gearbox.

At each the end of the cable is a barrel, which allows some degree of rotation for the linear pull of the cable to be transferred to/from a lever.

It sounds like the routing of your cable may have a sharp bend. Or the arm at the gearbox is seized or fouled on something. Get down there with a good flashlight and poke around. Photos (posted here) always help.
