I sent the seat from my 2013 V7 Stone to Sargent & like what they did: a bit wider in front, flat from front to back, kept the logo.

In my opinion you can't beat the quality and service of Corbin Industries. I bought a seat from them in '97 for my '95 California. They were prompt with delivery and had all the custom options just right on the seat. It was the firmest and most comfortable seat I ever rode on. When I got my '01 Cali I transferred the same seat on to that bike. I put a total of 150,000 miles on it before it started showing age. In January I sent it back to Corbin to have it redone. I changed some things on the order from before and got it back four weeks later and once again it's perfect right down to the Italian flag logo.

In case anyone interested in what it looks like:

I selected the 'bomber jacket' leather for all surfaces:

I put Corbin saddles on a BMW and a Buell. Both were well made but heavy, and neither fit properly without modifications. When I contacted Corbin about the fit on the first one, the Corbin tech said "that's because it's a bad design." Well, thanks.  That said, on a long ride I seldom thought about those saddles, and that's what really counts. Still, for turnkey saddles I prefer Sargent, and NOTHING beats a Russell custom saddle for comfort. But they're not waterproof, so it's always a compromise.

Ha!  No option to delete the Logo, but you can request that it be done in black so it's pretty unobtrusive.  I'll get a picture of it next time I have the bike out.

I've put Corbin seats on two Guzzis and one Ducati recently.  None of them were particularly heavy.
- The Ducati Monster seat was initially difficult to fit.  After about 200 miles the fit was fine.
- The Cali Custom was a very tight fit.
- The V7 seat fit perfectly out of the box
I didn't have to make any modifications to get any of the seats to fit.

Regarding the riding position on the V7: my perception is the riding position on the Corbin seat is just slightly lower than the stock seat, no more than an inch, but enough to notice it.  However this doesn't translate to your feet being closer to the ground, primarily because of the width of the seat.

As far as comfort is concerned, there is a reason I have one on the bikes I ride the most  :thumb:

mjptexas: Did you have to pay extra to get the diamond quilt on the drivers saddle? Great looking seat. I am leaning towards chocolate brown myself to match the original suede seat as close as possible. Bike looks fantastic with the Corbin seat.

I love the logo in black actually. Wish I had known that I could do that on my previous Corbin seat. Oh, it doesn't hurt that my last name is actually Corbin too!  :whip2:

Hmmm, that'll be a reason for me to exclude the Corbin, which too bad, because I like the look of it.    I'm already considering lowered pegs, or rear sets to open up my thigh-to-torso angle, which is way more comfortable for me with my lower back/sciatica issues (gee, I sound like an old geezer like some of the rest of the people on here  ).

I understand the concern about the tight fit with your legs.  I've thought about making the same changes.  Every time I get on the V7 (either seat) my first thought is "gee, this is a little cramped", but the thought passes in the first mile.  I don't have any discomfort after a long ride.

I thought a little more about my Corbin seat comments.  The riding position does change a little, but it may be just as attributable to the fact that with the solo seat you naturally sit a little farther back on the bike which changes your leg angle to the foot pegs and slightly increases your reach to the bars.  Again, the change isn't great but it is noticeable.

G5, does the seat seem more comfortable now, longer rides don't hurt your bottom as much or at all? I put a atv cushion on my seat and slid additional padding under the fron to try to level it some. It helps for short runs but long rides it hurts. Not too bad if the road is relatively smooth. Put some ikons on the back, a good improvement, the seat is next. Roughly how much was getting your seat redone? I am also planning on relocating the handlebars up and back with an MG cycles kit. I feel like the stock bars are too low and forward for me.

As you can see there was a promotion at the end of the year, & sent I my seat existing there to be modified after talking with them on the phone. It is more comfortable. I can move back & forth more. It's quite firm but has plenty of foam padding.

Thanks for the info. I am 6' with a 32 inch inseam. Do you reckon that the seat is high enough? The bike's present seat seems just about right in height and I don't want to feel cramped (I have a Racer with rear sets). Is the Corbin seat much lower than stock? Thanks again.

......

Does Sargent offer a complete seat for the V7, or only service to modify an existing one?

I'm really happy with the Sargent on my F800GT.   I've had Corbins in the past, and have been satisfied with the comfort, but, they're heavy beasts, plus the one on my VFR800 didn't work with the H&B side case mounts w/o some modifications.

To my understanding, you must send your seat into Sargent as they do not provide a seat pan. Regarding the Corbin seat being heavy, apparently it is not too bad if considering the solo gunfighter seat according to those who own it.

I'm starting to work on making V7 seat pans.  Stay tuned.............. ......

If successful I can make seats to order without any need for the stock pan.  So far so good but it will need to be perfect before I offer it.

Lucky you! We got 20 centimetres of snow over the last two days here.

May I ask how tall are you and what your inseam is? I took my Corbin "as is" because the sales person was adamant that I should try it out first before asking to have the drivers seat raised. I am sure it will be fine but would be curious to know your thoughts on it?
