another darn old Guzzi video (Nuovo Falcone content)

Moto Guzzi Nuovo Falcone - Stuck on the North Road, northern Quebec

As the title implies, some times things just go wrong. I had thought that a spare tube and the right tools would have been enough. It wasn't. But the kindness and generosity of strangers and friends should never be underestimated.

Here's the video: https://youtu.be/y5m0aR6udpI (about 10 minutes............ ..)

Great video and story!   The sort that gives you a real feeling of what it might have been like.

"Traffic survey"?    Now THERE's a job for you on THAT road ... !   What, 10 cars a day?   Good thing they were there though.

The fox seemed a bit bold.   I thought we were in for a Jack London story there for a minute, holding off the pack until the last second when rescue arrives (or doesn't arrive).

Good for Norm to head up there; and smart man to bring plenty of extra petrol.   No "Sheetz" on every corner there, I see ...

I'd like to be able to make a video/photo journal like that.   So you've taken your camera home and you upload the videos and pictures to a computer.   What then?

Ten cars was their record - its usually three or four max.
The fox had no concern for me and was only a few feet away.  Later in the day he was parading around with a freshly caught snake.
We even added my spare can to Norm's tank, but even then, it was touch and go to get back to Chabougamou.
On a couple of occasions we got a good drift going in the car over some washboard. Not too many corners though.
I use 'TrackAx' video editing software, but there are lots of good, cheap and easy (?) programs out there. It's a black hole for time though.

Plenty of people take a SPOT tracking device (including Daniel here, I think) but I don't go anywhere remote enough to make it necessary.

I think the key word is "necessary".   He didn't even have a working cell phone in this case and it didn't delay him a bit ... that's the way I've always rolled!

True , but someone else had a working cell phone , or Nick might still be out there fighting with a bear over a fish

If there had been no Norm to bale with, I would have found a ride to the First Nations village of Nemaska https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nemaska (probably with the bike in the back of someone's pickup) and either bodged a patch to get me going again, or ordered a tire/tube and sat on my thumbs for a couple of days.  Or perhaps someone would be heading south...or, ....or.  There are always options.   I was lucky to have the 'get out of jail free' card with Norm, but it was really just a set back, not a disaster.

The bear can have the fish Dusty. I'll stick to the blueberries.

Incidentally, when I got around to changing the tyre back at home, I found that miraculously it was undamaged, so my situation was no near as dire as I thought at the time.  If I'd realised that, I wouldn't have bothered Norm and found some way to patch the tubes. Spruce gum perhaps?

Nick , had Norm not come to the rescue , we would not be aware of what a great friend he is .

Yeah , given the choice between fighting a bear or living on berries ... although don't bears also like blueberries

Rich pine might make a temporary patch , warmed up and smeared over the hole , just don't get it near an open flame

Same as the old days.   There's ALWAYS something.    Pay phones, other people's phones, someone with a radio, an unlocked fire tower, a passing hunter .....

Never failed me yet, from the days when there were no cell phones, to now .....
