Wouldn't that make the bearing sticky?  :undecided:

Got the shop computer going, did the cad, and made a wrench to hold the output splines with some scrap steel and one of the clutch centers we were going to throw away.

Works a treat.. he said it would be a family heirloom, he'd have it forever. Kinda cool, actually..

The Kid found it was easier to install the clutch pushrod o rings *before* installing the transmission..

Looks like work.  :boozing:

I just took one of the MANY broken/worn clutch plates I had, and welded a piece of scrap to it for a handle.

Yes I'm cheap and have cheap tools.

Hey! I didn't paint it blue.. :boozing:

Now you have to put up a pegboard and paint that to hang it from. Don't forget to outline it so you know how to hang it.
Mine is tossed under the workbench somewhere.

Yeah, I don't normally take pains with temporary tools, but since it was for the Kid, I though I'd make a nice one.  He seems to be infected with the Guzzi bug pretty badly, and he'll get some use out of it.

This morning's progress.. started here..

Removed the Pitbull stand, and Brad just picked it up and carried it over to the "motive unit."  I helped line holes up, but one guy could have done it. Here, you can see an ejector pin (mold maker stuff) through the transmission mount to help align things.

Getting ready to mount the swing arm.

Brad thought the wiring looked ugly, and rerouted it. These are removable zip ties that are used on aircraft when making up harness runs.

While he was fooling around with it, I made up a couple of peg nuts for the transmission. Just need to weld it on a 1/2" drive socket.

Tweeeeeeeet. Lunch whistle.

the wheels are at the powder coater, or we'd have a roller.
Total time from on the saw horse to almost ready to ride? About 4 hours.

Headed out..valve covers are at the powder coater, too. It's been a fun little project, hanging out with the Kid and playing with a Guzzi.

Time to get back to work.  This will take a little longer.

Well, it would have been if he had wheels. They were still at the powder coater. It wouldn't have taken so long if he didn't decide to reroute the wiring so it wouldn't "be so ugly."    Guzzis, like Earth girls.. are easy.
