Intermittent Oil Temperature Error
« on: October 23, 2015, 08:45:58 PM »
Anybody been getting a Dashboard Code 07 Oil Temperature Sensor on their Bikes? I changed the oil in my Breva 1100 and now this service light keeps on alerting me to the presence of the code. Turn the key off for about 5 minutes the light goes away. Stop at the store light comes back on turn off the key, wait 5 minutes light turns off.
Any Ideas?

Yeah, you're oil pressure sensor is crapping out.  It takes too long to sense there is no longer any oil pressure there, so when you turn the key on again, the system notes that the sensor is already open circuit and reports an error.

After dealing with this through several sensor replacements, I've come to the conclusion that not all oil sensors are equal.  Call me superstitious, but I now replace them with the genuine part.  Otherwise, they come back to haunt you.

Here's Carl's schematic
http://www.thisoldtractor.com/guzzi007/schematics/2005_Breva_1100.gif
sensor 31 (mislabeled pressure gauge), 37 or 38
Both sensors 37 & 38 should be ~same Ohms when cold I think, less resistance as they warm up.

Dave's explanation seems right to me for the pressure switch
The ECU was programmed by Volkswagen to make you buy more switches
Seriously the Guzzi pressure switches are crap.

When I had the Quota (1000), I think I went through three original oil pressure sensors. Then I installed a Fiat/Lancia sensor from Hella (part number 6ZL003259131). No more problems. Don't know if it fits your Breva though.

Go in the dash and delete the errors, it helps. A better delete works w/software directly hooked up to the ecu, which is what the dash is supposed to do.

Alright then I will go ahead and get me one on order. Are there any cross reference sensors to keep me going? Would really like to ride this weekend

The part number I mentioned above has an m14 thread.
