Sobering 2015 Trophy $19499, 2013 $13999 both brand new

Well it is close to 2016 but if you can find one, the 2013 Trophys sure are discounted heavily for brand new unsold models.

It would be interesting to see how the sales of the new Trophy stack up to Norge sales.

I test rode one, before I got the Eldorado.  Not my cup of tea, too UJMish.  Wouldn't take it for free.

The poor Trophy came out of the gate with a bucket load of issues. Warping rotors, top end engine noise, cruise control kicks off unexpectedly, radio goes dead, whole bike goes dead, controls hard to use and info screen hard to see among other things. All this flew around the internet and no one wanted a $19000 lemon and sales ground to a halt, I'm sure. I'm a Triumph guy (2005 Rocket and 2011 Speedy) and I test rode a Trophy and didn't like it at all. YMMV, but there ARE new 2013 Trophys out there and I do believe dealers can still get them from Triumph. I haven't looked but Kelly Blue book is probably less than $13k on a used one and thats what you will have the minute you sign the papers.

It's called "Hyperbole", meant to make a point.   He likes big thumpy shaft-drive twins, not multicylinder sport tourers with chains.

I don't think he means that if a dealer showed up and said "Here, you're the big winner, have this new 2016 Triumph for free!", that he'd say "Bugger off and take your Jap wannabee with you ... "!

Or maybe he does.   If a certain Chief Executive showed up at my door with his entourage and said "I'm here to give you $20,000, courtesy of my administration", I'd take great pleasure in telling him to Bugger Off and take the money with him .... so maybe someone else feels the same way except about British-sourced motorcycles?

The Trophy SE is still on Triumph's website, so it must be selling. BTW, ithe Trophy uses a shaft drive, not a chain drive.

Well, just seeing.  Apparently, homosexual porn pictures are OK; just looking to see if a vague reference to a governor elicits any comment.   And it does.

Really?   I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but you don't understand it?

Have you never stretched anyone's rules in your long and eventful life?   (I won't even ask about breaking them.)

I'm all for keeping Luap's rules, and good on yer for taking it on.   I was just surprised that an ol' non-conformist like yourself didn't understand why anyone wouldn't treat the "rules" as a rigid, fixed boundary.

It's not like you can see it or anything .... it's like one of those underground dog fences.

So, back to regular programming.....

I only know one guy with a Trophy and he loves it, with no issues at all.  His is a 2013 model.

If for some reason a Guzzi won't work for me, a Triumph is next on the list.   Actually a Motus would be next, but that's sort of unobtainable unless my financial priorities change drastically for some reason .....

I'm sure that they are good bikes, was not trying to imply otherwise.  My 2012 Street Triple R was amazing, but also not really my cup of tea.

The Trophy just felt really big, heavy.  Kind of Gold Wing ish.  Millions love them, but "Tupelo Flash" is not on that list.

Tupelo Flash.....that could be a great stage name for an Elvis impersonator!

That was my feeling as well and big reason why I went with the Norge. The Trophy is nice but really big!

It is indeed...it felt very "blockish" when I sat on one in 2013 I think, although it did have a few more gizmos on it.  Just seemed to be somewhat awkwardly constructed, had no idea it would have such teething issues, so I'm glad I didn't bite at the time.  Although I have to say that the previous Trophy model, particularly in British Green was a looker.  No idea how it rode, but looked great.

t felt very "blockish"...

That's how I felt. I am sure it is a great bike, but it is rather ungainly looking, especially compared to the Norge. (The BMW RT strikes me the same way.)

I sat on one, and felt like I was riding a rhinoceros. Way too bulky across the tank and control area...

The new Trophy is a big touring bike, near to the dimensions of a Gold Wing.  Not much sport, mostly touring.  The RT has a bit more sport to go with the touring.  All the others, such as ST1300, Connie, FJR, and Bandit, have different levels of sport to go with the touring.  I would say the Norge has the most sport of the afore-mentioned bikes, save the Bandit maybe. All IMHO.

Pure sport touring was my CBR600RR with soft saddle bags running around Arkansas for most of a week.  Note: That used to be my track bike and I only "toured" on it once and it has since been taken over by my youngest son.  Mind and body are no longer up to that bikes standards anymore.     It was such a rush when it was howling in anger at 12000 to 15000 rpm!

I have a 2013 Trophy SE. It's a fantastic motorcycle and the only thing I've had to fix is a leaking fork seal. The display is easy to read, and the menu system is easy to use on the fly.
