Mistrals

Not another exhaust topic.

Just a question.

I put mistrals on my v7 about two weeks ago or about 300 miles give or take and today noticed that they've become noticebly louder... Not imagining... Although the thought did occur a few times. Baffles in and seem tight. Mufflers are tight as well.

So the question is whether anyone else have experienced something similar or is it just me? Are they getting louder once the kinda break in?

Thanks a lot!

I don't know about the V7s, but it took about 45,000 for the mistral on my 1200 sport to get snorty enough for my liking.

The stock exhaust on my Norge got noticeably louder after a few hundred miles. I am not sure why. Perhaps bits in the interior burned off over time!

The Agostini silencer that I put on the Norge sounded softer with the DB killer in (but still better than stock) and noticeably louder (and even better!) than stock with the DB killer removed. The loudness never really varied for me over thousands of miles.

On my Triumph Thruxton, I replace the stock sewing-machine-sounding silencers with loud, un-baffled, raucous British Customs Predators and had the ECU re-mapped to run richer. After a few hundred miles, the Predators took on a softer, better sounding tone. Perhaps carbon built up from the engine running rich!

all new exhaust systems will have a hollow sound at first when clean. in time carbon deposits lines the pipe and changes the pitch and tone. poncho
