Have to agree that the Datil Guzzi state rally is the most bang for your $ in all the rallies I've ever ridden to.  Really don't know how the rep. is doing it unless he's losing $ presenting it.  You forgot about the rally pin, awards and someone wins/rides home a MC w/o buying a 50/50 ticket, but just for being there.   This year it was a `77 Guzzi Convert. in excellant condition.   Usually about 50 of us show up  :thumb:

Thank you! Yes, extra bling I left out and shouldn't have.

If that was the L.A Guzzi National, you got ripped off.  That 1 does not represent all the other Nationals.  Each 1 is designed and run by it's MGNOC state rep. that schedules it.   Some are better than others.  John Day is 1 of the better efforts as are the Elkader Iowa rallies. :boozing:  Been to both among many others. Skipped the L.A. National rally since I knew the state rep.

I think that's a bit harsh.

Organising something like a rally IS very time consuming and quite frankly you can never please everyone. As most people know I don't have a huge amount of time for Todd or the stuff he spruiks and sells but he did organise a site at a park in the hills North of Malibu surrounded by some beautiful riding roads.

The reason I've been to a few National Rallies is to meet people and chew the fat. If I get fed as well? So much the better but I'm never going to hold any organiser up to some sort of 'Gold Standard'! Sod that!

I do have to say though that the John Day site is nice and fun and there are some great roads around there, albeit swarming with bloody deer when I was there!

Oh, and John? If you liked the 68s map I put in to your bike? I can give you one of Mark's that will make a bit of wee come out! :D

Like most things in life, Guzzi rallies are what you make of them. As far as Oregon goes, John Day is a great facility abutting a small town that has most everthing you need. Added benefit is great riding for a thousand miles in any direction except west, only about 300 miles that way.
The only real drag for you guys in the east is the Great Plains. You have my sympathy.

The truth is even if the rally was in your home state, you wouldn't be able to get most to participate.  The rally would be too far away or the date would be wrong for them.  No table service etc. Whine..............

It is definitely on my '16 riding calendar.  Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Santa just brought me a new tent for next year's outings.  I'm expecting to sleep really well and stay very dry in the process, regardless of the weather.

I always knew I'd get old.  How fast it happened was a bit of a surprise, though.

Weather @ the Rally should be no  problem, getting there it may be depending how far and where you're coming from.  I put in long days and motel to & from. Rest at the rally.  :thumb:
