 It is a shame that ice is so destructive because there is nothing more lovely . Talked to fubar guzzi earlier , he figured to go out his front door upside down , so when the inevitable happened the result would be landing on his feet

Ice storms suck.

Just 40-degrees and raining here in NWA, for the past three days.

Interesting to watch the freezing line stay where it is, from OKC to Wichita, and never get any closer to us.

BTDT in Vancouver, Washington in the `80s. Columbia river froze  over and my neighbor was a tugboat captain pushing barges up/down it then.   They got frozen in for days !  A Greyhound bus got blown off the adjacent highway by a gust of wind in the Columbia gorge.  Tree branches fell off from the weight of the frozen ice. It was NASTY !!

That was after Mt. St. Helens blew up and covered us with ash repeatedly!l

It has been sunny here but sub-freezing every night. The fog freezes and leaves everything slick. Haven't ridden since last Sunday.

The problem is that the lids on the feeders are froze shut and even the line of the bigger feeder is frozen to the hanger. It isn't as bad as it looks as I put feed out on the tray part of the feeders a few times a day. There is a of food on the ground plus we have stalks of milo and broom corm out. On top of that they get treated to a heated birdbath.
Electricity finally went down about 30 minutes ago. Man, I love our auto Generac!

Attaboy. Our windmill powered aerator keeps the pond open all winter. Sometimes there is just a foot or two in diameter, with birds all around it. They take it tough if they can't get food or water for an extended period.

7.5 hours since the electricity went out. The Kaw powered Generac keeps on purring.

 We had a very similar ice storm a few years ago , 14 days W/O electricity . We had heat and the cook stove worked , solar powered radio , and some gas lamps kept us connected to civilization

We're having a cold spell(for us) and I feed the wild birds(many quail) around us.   Been in the mid 20s@ night but in the 45-50 in daytime.  The water freezes over but melts w/sunshine.   This is as cold as it gets here @ 3,600 feet in the winter time.  If we get snow @ night it melts by the end of the next day usually. Last night the leaves really started dropping on our back yard trees.   Don't have to rake them because the wind will blow them away.    We live in the desert w/no fencing.  Gotta keep the bunny rabbits plump for the coyotes who come thru @ night in the winter time.
