Avatar problems AGAIN
« on: December 04, 2015, 11:44:04 AM »
I try putting an avatar on my account by selecting "Specify avatar by URL" and entering the URL of a pic.   It is a valid image that I can browse to on a web browser.   I've tried image sizes of 200x200, 150x150, 70x70, and 65x65.    It seems to take it, but, doesn't show up on my posts, and when I go back to forum profile, is listed as "No avatar."

Is this a new problem since the renewal of WG on new software?    Has anyone here added an Avatar since then?

I'm trying to do a 480x720 and nothing.  There's nothing in the online manual about avatar pixel size either.  I keep trying to copy this to my google photos, making sure it's shared, and either copying the URL on that page, or getting the URL link, but no joy in mudville.  And just now I tried to copy the image into this post, and "Insert Image" doesn't do anything either.  Arrrrgggghhhhhh!

There's not a problem with the new server.  I just tested using a Windows 7,8 and 10 box with three different test accounts.  All from Chrome, Firefox and IE.  All worked flawlessly.

Try resizing to 64X64 and name it a jpg file.  Should work for you then.

Well right now, text seems to be the only thing that is working..

What is not working?

Way too big and that would distort the whole page. 65X65 is the max.  But, what I've seen in the past that even 65X65 will be rejected.  Try 64X64 and a jpg.

Merry Christmas everyone,

Large people with tails can cause these problems.  I think it is the sensory organs in the tails that do it.

Unlike some of the smartass answers I received, apparently Luap still knows his way around this  board.  Thank you, Mr KcKeever and Happy Holidays to everyone.

What is not working?

this morning, none of the emoticons, etc. were working for me. Tried Chrome and Safari..
Probably a Mac issue..  Seems to be fine, now.

Well, it looks like "Specify avatar by URL" doesn't work.    I was, however able to add one by using "Upload an avatar", which wasn't working the last time that I tried.
