What a difference a few pounds makes.
« on: December 15, 2015, 07:23:49 PM »
Rode the Norge into the city ( about 110 mikes total RT) for service. I left the side bags and tail trunk at home since the shop has limited storage for them.

The difference between as naked as a Norge can get and fully dressed? Like the difference between dancing with the lean cheerleader and the thicker but well porportoned gals in High School (going back to the early 70s in memory)

The cheerleader was light on her feet, moved a lot and always wanted to twirl around. The thicker gal was the slower dancer, steady and purposeful, comfortable and would go song to song never getting tired.

Best can describe it.

I have noticed that, too, on my Norge. I think some of the free feeling comes from the better aerodynamics.

Yup. Let's moving around from side winds too. Ended up splitting lanes for nearly 30 miles on the way in today, close to that on the way home. I avoid splitting as much as possible but sitting for two hours in slow and go traffic was too much. Much easier without the bags although in reality it probably doesn't make much difference.

I agree

My Breva "feels" much wider with the panniers on, but I suspect panniers don't make it much wider than the mirrors in reality

Mhh tape measure need I suspect

Couldn't have put that better myself
Excellent analogy, not sure about the heavier one never getting tired but if she dances slow enough maybe

Why people want weight/bulk high and wide completely beyond me
Of course when the cheerleader gets older...........

Rules
No wider than yer pinkies, bags low and forward as poss
Nothing behind rear spindle bar a few pounds (w/proofs)
Only high weight on tank, centralised

Works for me

Yep, I like the ammo cans nice and close to the frame (they are about an inch wider than the bars).  Far enough forward that they are even with the passenger pegs.  The tops are lower than my seat.
