Jeff, I didn't pay sales taxes in Washington state but North Carolina made dang sure I did when it got here, 3% if I am not mistaken.  I would imagine any state with a vehicle sales tax does the same. Your lucky Oregon doesn't.

3%, lucky.  Here it is not only the state sales tax but each county can apply its own so the tax rate can be above the state rate. Close to 9%. Then comes the registration. Then registration every year thereafter.

A bike that changes hands a few time easily generates more tax revenue than the initial cost of the bike.

I've been wanting a more comfortable bike for my daily commute to work with better weather protection than my vstrom. I've been salivating over bikes like the C14 and the r1200rt but generally find them too expensive.

The Norge at $10k would be fantastic! If I can find one...

Go get it. You will find the Norge one of the most competent STs made. Within the performance envelope of sport touring it is a class act.

With simple adjustments costing nearly nil, it can fit just about anyone and take you anywhere.

As for being fantastic at $10k

It is fantastic at $11K, $12K too. Thrown in $13k for good measure and you are still a top dog in the pack, the cats meow as a bonus.

Thanks guys. I really am a bit floored at the value this bike presents for $10k. I mean... heated grips, abs, traction control, cruise control, center stand, side cases already included, electronic windshield. Nothing else comes even remotely close at that price point.

 I live near New Orleans, so I need to find something close enough to make a trip to get it. I will try the dealerships in Houston and Pensacola first, but they have their '14 Norges listed for around $14k, which is a far cry. Worth a shot talking to them anyway.

^ You should call Rick Chapelle at Moto Guzzi Portland tomorrow at 503-777-0953. Last time I was there, he had a black 2013, a white 2014 demo, and a mahogany 2014 or 2015.

You could also call Dave Richardson at Moto International at 206-297-3827 and ask if he has a line on any other new 2014 Norges. He just might.

PS: The Norge does NOT have traction control or cruise control, but who really needs them anyway?

For absolutely no cost to you other than the purchase price and scheduled maintenance you arrange for and pay to the dealer, I will, weather permitting, pick it up and ride it to New Orleans. The fuel and hotel and such things are on me.

I will pick it up and ride it to San Francisco where Munroe Motors can perform the initial service which will be due ( you just pay for the service) and I'll store the Norge until you can pick it up or weather permitting, I'll ride it to New Orleans on my dime. Weather permitting means I don't ride your new bike in the rain, snow, ice or hail.

Your Norge will be properly "broken in" as needed. Should you want risers installed, I have an extra set from 1/4" to 1" I will install for you.

The Norge will get to you as it should, you won't have to fuss with break-in and the same dealer I trust with my Norge will have done the service on yours.

When you make your deal, just tell them it is a fly and ride and apply the fly part to my get there flight if it comes to SF first or the return if it goes to New Orleans first.

Now, where are you going to get a deal like that?

To make this even more attractive - Norge Pilot can drop the bike with me in San Diego for a little while. I will ride it until the tires wear out and then deliver it to you with bald tires - ready for you to put on whatever brand of tires you prefer. Then you won't ever be bothered by the factory's tire selection.

PS - I think Norge Pilot's offer is serious and worth considering (mine... not so much). I like the SF option, then you could do a SFO to home fly-and-ride - cutting two to three days off your trip (one or two days riding and one day service). I think Portland to SF would be about the perfect break-in service interval.

Probably $500-$600 to have it shipped and you'll still be way ahead of what others are asking.

NOTE- A lot closer is AF-1 Racing in Texas. I believe they advertise them at $10,900. May be worth a call to see if they will do a little better.

Feeling the love guys, y'all are a good crowd.   I sure appreciate the offer Norge Pilot, and if buying a new bike wasn't part of the adventure for me, I'd give it serious thought

I actually love doing fly and rides, have had great experiences in the past, so it's part of the adventure for me. Whatever deal I make I will travel to get it for no other reason than "just because", lol. I'm sure some of you can relate.

I'll call around the closest dealers in Texas, Georgia and Florida and see what kind of numbers I can get. If that fails there's also the Carolinas that aren't all that far away. We shall see.
