Dakar on TV
« on: January 04, 2016, 08:20:57 PM »
The Dakar Rally just started on NBCSN today if you are interested.  I'll watch them all beat the crap out of themselves from the comfort of my recliner  :boozing:
Has my roller tappet kit arrived yet?

SPOILER ALERT! The first leg was cancelled so, if you missed tonight's show, you didn't miss much.

Am I the only one or would you say it's not a good idea to put a Chinese lady driver in the Rally?  She did make it 6 km though.  Makes Milka Dunno look like Schumacher.

Really , so we shouldn't let Irishmen race motorbikes at the IOM , or any of the Irish series , or Southern boys drive stock cars that would fly into the crowds except for all of that catch fencing . Interesting

According to the news piece the race was not started yet and the driver plowed into the crowd. Makes a person wonder if there is any qualification to run this race or If you have the entrance money you just show up and go.  Giving the driver the benefit of the doubt hopefully it was a medical thing, not that that would be good either for anyone.

Yeah, I'm going with opinion B.  How many Chinese Dakar race crews are there?  Look at the entire career stats of Milka.  Giant tits.  30 MPH off the pace.  Follow the money.  Unqualified driver plows into spectators.

Milka Duno has won quite a few races in different series , no idea about the female driver at the Dakar. However , that type of rally is crazy dangerous by its nature .

So as a moderator you are obligated to perk your ears at the words "Chinese lady" but you just googled Milka?  Did you watch any races she was in?  A total hazard to all racers.  Big oil money bought a seat.  Most true road races are gone because of this spectator hazard.  Mille Miglia?

Nothing to do with being a mod , have been aware of Duno since she was racing in sports cars and winning . No idea why you are saying she is slow , she finished 7th in points a couple of years back in the ARCA series . Hell , racing doesn't happen W/O sponsorship bucks , just a fact of business . As for the Chinese comment , since I don't have the facts re what happened at Dakar , and don't believe anyone does , maybe we can hold off on passing judgement . May have been the fault of the lady driver , might be the organizers fault , could even be equipment failure . Wasn't there , don't know .

I never thought that Milka had ever won in anything.  I had to google and Dusty is correct.

She's won in the American LeMans and Rolex series' in the early 2000s.

It took me all week to catch up on this year's Dakar. And once again, I was impressed. The teams and drivers are amazing. However, Robby Gordon is the biggest cry baby since Michael Andretti tried to race formula 1. Not only did he complain about Peugeot, the event's governing body and the weather, he pulled this total bone head move on the final transport leg of the final day...
