Calli3 got new forks

After my wreck the Calli needed some forks and a friend gave me a set from a KTM 640 Adventure. The KTM bearings fit the Guzzi races, but the stem was 1 1/2" too short.I chucked up some scrap 1 1/4" steel round bar and turned a new one. I got them installed so I could find out how soft the springs would be. They sagged 3" of the 10" travel and will hit the tank before the frame.

If anyone has a dented tank that would fit, I would be willing to pay shipping. This being off work sure cuts into the little savings I had set back. Hopefully I can get out of this hard neck brace and back to work in a couple weeks.

Word of warning
I've got a similar set of forks, actually zocchis off a husaberg and was going to use em on Tonti but
travel is about a foot, simple I thought just restrict it to 6" or so internally, get ride height
But even short the problem was length of lower legs, just to sit square with 18" wheel (let alone 21") the top of legs wouldn't give me more than a few inches before they hit lower triple clamp.
Looks like yours will do same, might be possible to limit travel (bottoming not topping) but is all a bit close
Remove springs and run through travel before worrying about tank clearance
Leading axle and 21 will make very slow steerer too

yea but you're increasing trail, measure it too, I'm guessing >5"
How that works on an outfit I have NFI but on solo would steer like a bus, motard racers here spin forks around so trailing axle not leading, that quickens em up a bit !!!

While checking alignment found that the front wheel at the ground is two inches to the left. Since there is no money for a new frame I will be cutting neck and re installing slightly higher and with less rake. This bike will stay on the road in some form.

Before cutting the neck off I measured trail at 4".

Got the neck cut and tacked in to the upper slug and will be extending the two uprights. These will be welded before gussets are fitted.

Just got in from the shop having made a little progress. the beginning rake, sitting the way it is, was 35%, it now sits at 27%.

Pulled the 250 USD forks and reinstalled the 640 after I got the 300mm disk and low fender. I like this look but need a smaller wheel, that 21 holds the fender about 1 1/2" above where it should bolt.



And now with the high fender.

Well now, I think the high fender looks better on the bike, when used with the front and rear knobbies. That seat is massive looking though. Anyone got a better looking muffler idea? I am used to seeing those big off road silencers on adv. type bikes now.
