Griso fit in a mini van ???

I need to transport a griso a few hundred miles.  Cargo vans get a bit pricey to rent.  Has anyone tried putting one in a mini van ???   Thx, dave.

How 'Mini' is a minivan? Biggest issue is the wheelbase. They're a long sumbitch!

Remembering a previous thread Chuck managed to get one of his V11's into some sort of preposterous tin snail. Was that the same sort of thing?

From memory Dorcia couldn't lean over and punch him easily because the front wheel was in the way..

No way. Too much wheelbase for my van. I haven't measured some of the new vans that have just come out, but I doubt it.

I have transported a TU250 in Honda Odyssey a few years ago. It did fit in nicely with mirrors folded and all the seats down/out, but anything larger than that - I doubt...

I have transported my 03 EV in a Ford Windstar.

I'd think it would fit in Dodge Minivan or all the others in that size.  Simply get check the specs and see.  Probably the most difficult part is the head room.  I know a fellow that had one back in the late 80s, and he could pull the seats out it and had quite a bit of room. 

Now there is a new generation of work vans, some are front wheel drive, some are diesels, and all are available in several sizes, tall roofs and different lengths.

I've thought about this as a touring combo.  Most of these "city" vans have a rear cargo area of about 80" and the Griso is 89" total (I think).  That means the front wheel would have to go between the seats a little.  That's what JB did with his Nissan:

Just for thought, I have rented a Uhaul motorcycle specific trailer 3 times. Very nice, built in front wheel chock, attachments for tie-down straps and a drive up ramp and only about $16.00 for 24 hours if you don't get the insurance. I think about $25 - $28 if you do get insurance and with tax. Of course then you need a tow vehicle.

Sometimes it pays to get the insurance.  Going to a recent meet, a friend first bent out a piece of the trailer fender by hitting a barrier in a gas station, and then speared a traffic barrel with it on the highway.  I heard it attracted the attention of quite a few other drivers as he kept driving with it on the fender.

My pickup has a 6'-5" bed, 77", the Griso fits with the tailgate closed if I tuck the front wheel in the drivers corner and swing the rear over a bit. I don't need to go all the way as 1/3 of my ramp goes on that side, while the other two pieces go on the drivers side. Easy Peasy.

Tie downs in the pickup make this workable. In a van, iffy.

My old mini van would take a full sheet of plywood with the door closed. My seat was pushed up way too far to be comfortable for me, but for in town it was OK. Never put a bike in it though. Suspect the mirrors would have to come off.

Blackcat and I put my Griso in the back of my Hyundai Entourage minivan.  Rear seats out, third row folded.  I imagine other minivans would fit as well because the standard is the ability to lay a 4x8 flat on the floor.

Any Chrysler minivan with Stow-n-Go will work. What you have to do is remove the mirrors and then compress the front forks using a ratchet strap in order to clear the slope of the hatch at the roof line.  42" from the ground to the top of the dash (that's what wants to hit first) is what you'll need.  Once you roll it up the ramp and get the front in, you'll have plenty of clearance.

Roll the front wheel against to floor console (or a small rubber chock against the console) and then run your tie downs to the  seat anchors behind the two front seats.  You can release the compressed forks once it's in - plenty of top clearance.

I've hauled an Ambassador in one and my Griso fits.

Have a low-profile ramp sit on the bumper, not on the rear floor as you need every inch of vertical space.  You want that front wheel hit the carpet on the rear-most part of the floor.
