How long between when you sold it and when you bought it back? Repos don't count.

I built "Barney", my '71 Ambassador, completely from parts in '06 and '07, reluctantly sold it in Sept. '08 to finance a new heating system and electrical upgrades to the house.

April Fool's Day 2015, the gentleman I sold it to called and offered it back to me a ridiculously low price. So low, that I thought he was playing a cruel joke on me. But no, real deal, on Easter Sunday he rode it up and dropped it off.

A variation of that theme. I have owned 4 or 5 Eldos ditto Ambos ditto 850 Ts. 3 airhead boxers, 3 late model Bonnevilles, 3 Yamaha XT350s, 2 K75 BMWs, 3 Russian sidecars. Serial customer?

Next day, it was a trade in (new bike), cost me $250 for the use of the Honda VTX 1800 for one day. I hated the bike, got back my FJR.

2 STROKE TRIPLE KAWASAKI'S. Never owned the same one twice, they didn't last that long. Owned 1 1973 S-1 250 and 3 different 1972 S-2 350's. If the price on survivors wasn't out of this world, I'd probably buy another one now that gas is cheap. 30 MPG on a good highway trip. Oh but the intake drone and rattle of those 3 cylinders, music to my ears!!!

I owned a Kawasaki s-250 as well. It was a blast to ride. Not the fastest thing but you couldn't tell by the sound it made.

Allow me to cheat on this just a little bit! Never bought her back, but as soon as I traded this bike, I wished I had it back. To me, one of the loveliest K bikes BMW built. Though it looks bright white, there was a gold underneath the white, and in the right light, she glistened. Pic was taken in 1991, on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I traded on a full fairing K1100LT, and regretted doing so from day one.

This was the 2nd of several K-RS bikes. Probably why I love my current 1200 2v Sport so much. The Sport reminds me of a v twin powered version of my sadly-departed K RS bikes. So, perhaps in some variation of 'buying back,' the 1200 Sport has taken me back to my older K bike days.

EDIT: just behind my boot, you can read "ABS." Yep .... this old gal was BMW's first ABS-equipped bike .... 27 years ago.

My first motorcycle was a 1972 Honda CB350-Four. This was about 1985, probably paid less than $500 for it and it was immaculate. I rode it about a year and went up to a 600. About three years ago I saw a 1973, same color (red) and did a "nostalgia" buy. Not the same motorcycle (VIN) but it was otherwise the same motorcycle. Didn't end up riding it much, and it was just too slow for traffic - so I recently sold it to a collector.

I have owned my 1966 Triumph Bonneville since I was 18.
That's 35 years.
It was out of my possession for about 2 yrs. as I traded it off to my best motorcycle pal
for a Suzuki DR400. (I knew bonnie was going to a fine man).
Shortly after, he got lung cancer. His health deteriorated fast.
And before he passed he gave her back to me...

There was a 650 CC Triumph TR6R that traded back and forth between myself and a couple of my service buddies . Seems it was mine at least twice . This was not unusual activity in the military , cars , bikes , even go karts often went around a circle of friends more than once .

I bought an 850T from my brother-had a stuck clutch. I fixed it and rode for a while, then sold it to my brother-in-law.

He rode it very little, somehow the headlight was broken, it sat for a year-then I bought it back, fixed it, rode it, then traded it on a '77 LeMans.

Congrats on getting Barney back. If I could find the '71 Ambassador I sold 15 years or so ago, I'd buy it back in a heartbeat. They're great bikes.

TT 500. Way worse off the second time 'round but at least it's back!

Tried to re-score my Cagiva 250... c'est la vie.

Pre-re-bought my GS850G in an - unfortunately - unusual instance seller's remorse prescience. My man was a bit miffed at my backing out but the combination of me still having it and seeing what became of the bike he did buy put a wash to the whole affair. It was as good as gone but just didn't quite make it to the trailer.

A few years back I thought I really wanted another 1000SP. I was talked out of it until I will have a stable and space for multiple bikes. My probably path now will to obtain a full fairing bike, an then other fun bikes. After I buy a house later this year.

Bought this in 2001 used (1998 model) from a veterinarian in Chicago. In 2012 I eBay'd it to a guy in SoCal for $1,200 bucks.

In 2015 I got a call from the same guy saying he was moving to Europe for work and asked if I wanted it back? Said it had primarily been on display in his office. Agreed to $600 bucks and after a 3-year visit to SoCal it is back in FL. Looks to me like he never used it.

Yes, rides up hill great........maybe best to walk it down. :>

Works of art for sure....pictures don't show how great these paint jobs are in person. Also, at 26.4 pounds as she sits in the picture it makes for a pretty light and nimble city bike as well.

Hi Folks,

Not the same exact bike, but close enough. Back in 2006 I (stupidly) sold my perfectly sorted '98 V11EV (red and cream) which I bought brand new. The bike was perfect and I had added full-floating Brembo disks, a corbin seat and some other stuff. I regretted that sale more than any other bike I've sold.

A couple years ago I saw another '98 V11 (HD&M) and had to have it. It took six months to get the seller down to a semi-realistic price and I picked her up.
The bike needed some work, but it's in good shape now and I'm really happy to have one back in the garage!

Not the exact same bike, but the identical make, model, year, and color: a white 2014 Moto Guzzi Norge.

My first one was destroyed by a school teacher. I spent a couple of months deciding what to replace it with (including buying a new car!), put down a deposit on a new Triumph Thruxton R, and then saw Moto International's price of about one-third off for another new, identical Norge. I could not resist, and I am glad I didn't!

A 1975 Can-Am 250. A really fun bike that did wonderful loooong wheelies in 3rd gear. Bought it new and sold it twice. It came back to me for free the third time with a siezed engine but by then Bombardier had ceased production and parts were no longer available except through the local KTM dealer who didnt give a shit. I reluctantly left it on the curb for the trash collector when I moved.
