Playboy has gone to non-nude...where are we going?
« on: February 04, 2016, 03:30:37 PM »
I understand their concept, but it makes no sense to me.  And it brings a bit of melancholy to my day, just a bit.   No frontal nudes in Playboy?  WTF?   I admit, I was always a partial to the much more dicy Penthouse, which long ago died along with Bob Gucciono and Omni magazine, now that was a good rag!

But somehow to me, seeing P/B go lame just feels like we are losing something that once meant something and now doesn't, and after all the hub ub, will be lost in history.  To bad, because it meant a lot to many, many aspiring young men across the planet.  But the internet has destroyed the fun of paper women, someday, the net will meet the same fate I suppose.

Personally think it's the way to go, never did like the Gynecology monthly version. A little imagination goes a long way.

Why did Playboy stop doing nudes? It works for Maxxim, the most popular prison magazine!
Actually, I don't know that to be a fact, but IIRC Maxxim outsells Playboy by a bunch.

Now we know why the women who might stop by, leave without saying anything.

To use a cliche or banned phrase...

Just sayin.

Come on man!  Have you ever paged through a Maxxim?  Thats why they are everywhere, they don't do total nude!  This is my complaint, P/B is dumbing down to play on Maxxims turf!

You aren't gonna see any of the really good stuff in Maxxim, and or P/B now!

Yeah - Heaven forbid men enjoy and appreciate the female form lest some tissue-skin label it objectifying.

Around these parts - there've been many a "man" in the past posting here who'd likely cry foul at fellas engaging in a titillating thread such as this... It ain't just the women who gripe. 'Sides, hasn't Playboy been run by a gal lo these many years? Perhaps I'm thinking of the other one.

Right, sure that has to be it, the female form. Didn't know there were so many artists on the forum. The big boob thread should have been the clue. lmao.

Way back when I was in high school, one of my teachers had her classes write term papers on a black history or culture issue. I happened to see an interview in Playboy (can't remember who) that was very topical, so I shared it with a classmate who was writing about the issue that made the interviewee famous.

I'm sure the interview was a cornerstone of my classmate's term paper. The teacher never commented on the source.

Speaking of PC, the faculty my local Ivy League School, Brown University, just voted to change the name of the school's October Columbus Day holiday to Indigenous Peoples Day.  The rub is that RI has one of the highest percentages of Italian-Americans, who take Columbus Day as virtually a religious observance.  I'm waiting for the inevitable town-gown clash over this.
