Rest in peace.  Glad to have lived through the 70's and listened to the music that helped define the American experience.

EWF or maybe White in particular had a hell of an estate relatively deep in the Carmel Valley - on the dry side - back when I was in language school.

I helped one of the fellas associated with the estate out with a thing and was invited out of a weekend.

Seriously, righteously, almost unbelievably hip dudes and I am never one to suffer being star-struck.

I recall most fondly, a very classily accepted and then expertly diverted faux pas on my part in my congratulating them on one of Kool and the Gang's hits.

They connected me with those epically astounding folks at KLRB (Carmel by the Sea) and that in turn led to insider connections the the Monterey Jazz Festivals and then, and then...

EWF (Maurice?) truly "hooked me up"! I wish I remembered more but so much of it is "clouded" now.

At some point (taken in the light hearted spirit meant) all THREE of the Pointer Sisters turned down jovial marriage proposals but then, so too did Chris Evert and others whom I serially proposed to for fun in order to get responses.

Shame, today I'd be on a list and labeled... weeeeered!

There is a pretty convincing version of BS&T touring right now . They went through so many personnel changes over the years , 150 different members , who can tell what is original

I really couldn't stand EW&F back in the day when they were top 40, I was more into Skinnerd and The Outlaws and such.

Now I really appreciate the bands with some funk and brass. You watch EW&F's old videos, they're havin' a blast! so much energy!

Also really dig Canned Heat, BS&T, and War. Today's hit music rock OR country just doesn't measure up.

RIP Maurice! and stay funky man! :afro: one time this emoticon actually fits!

Yes, the Phoenix Horns!  I worked with one version of Blood S & T some years back.  I have many of their albums.  Don't forget about CHicago also.  Love bands w/horns.

"All very sexy ladies...Evert had the best eyes of the 70's..."

Yeah, Chrissy... she (or one of her people?) politely explained the hyphenated "Loyd" in a letter. Exactly the kind of thing I hoped for when I started writing gals. The letters from me were hilarious and harmless.

2/3 Pointer Sisters responded. talk about "... So Excited"!

Earth Wind and Fire....what a sound.  Unfortunately Maurice White has been ill for years with Parkinson's. He was a great bandleader. Phillip Bailey and crew still doing a bang up job. They'll be at the United Center in Chicago with 'Chicago' (the band) April 1st!

Tower of Power still out there, I'll be seeing them in July.  And, last year I saw current version of Blood Sweat and Tears with Bo Bice (Idol) and it was good show with Bo excellent covering David Clayton Thomas vocals.

All horns....all funk is good.

In 1975, before they got really big, Tower of Power played in my High School gym. That was a cool show.
