New Guzzi, Breva 750 again......
« on: February 05, 2016, 06:39:21 PM »
Bought it yesterday, set it up today as a mild adventure bike. Tires from my old Breva, raised front fender 1/2" to fit the tire. Put on my Staintunes and Mistral crossover and added heated grips and Stelvio hand guards. Better rear shocks. A few small things to do, have progressive fork springs to put in and wire up the grips and a controller for my jacket liner. Easily loads in my small van.

What windshield is on the bike? Looks about the size I want for my Breva.

That's the 'touring' windshield from Guzzi by the looks of it.
I think it catches the wind a bit much- rather prefer no windshield or a tiny one around town.  But if you are touring, it isn't bad.

You are going to love it!  I have a 2007 and she has been bullet proof for 18,000+ miles.  I have the original pipes and would love to hear what those Staintunes and Mistral crossover sound like!

Wish I could show you what my 750 Breva mufflers look like, but I can't.   They are Emgo upswept  chrome pipes with baffles, bolted right on, and sound  GREAT for $120 delivered to my door!!  They weigh next to nothing compared to the original stock catylitic converter mufflers.   In my state I don't have to meet any smog or noise issues where I live.  :thumb:

Nice. 750 Brevas have seem to have gotten lost once the V7's came out. I had one for a while, really a nice bike.

Nice job John.  Looks great.  But somehow it's not you.  I mean - where is the drab green paint and expanded metal over the windshield?  You will have to change your guzzi handle from ratguzzi.  Just kidding, again good job.

I thought that after the gearbox problems on your first one that you had gone off them.

Thinking back on the years of threads, other than boxes that have been run out of oil yours and mine are really the only two that have had major problems.

Really love my one. Got a 260 mile ride coming up today with the son, (he on his Harley).

This bike is mostly for my work trips in the winter or when I need to bring a lot of tools for whatever job I am sent to. I finished the bike today, great test ride and all worked well. Well, I went to load it in my van and the windshield was a couple inches too tall to clear the rear door latch. So I had to cut a couple inches off the shield. Didn't feel like removing it every time I load/unload.

That does look like a great commuter style motorcycle.  Locking saddlebags are really nice for daily use bikes.

Sure, those are all fine and good 'till a fella needs to tip his bike up on them on the side of the road to fix a flat! :boozing:

Just so! At least throw some expanded metal mesh on that new pimp ride of yours. We (yup, mouse in my pocket) expect some form of excessive utilitarianism/practicality! Throw us a bone... Maybe get a riding mower exhaust - strap-on fuel tank.... something, lest are faith in all things be shaken.

I really dig it, man!
I've been trying to figure out what to do to improve my Breva for a trip to Colorado from TN.
I have the Hepco and Becker bags and the touring windshield already, and was planning on some 80/20 tires for my next set.
What shocks did you use in the rear?
And would you mind elaborating on your tires sizes/brand and how you raised the front fender?
I've done 16k miles on my bike since last march, and it has been the most dependable thing I've ever owned. I can't afford a Stelvio or a GS right now, so I need to improve what I have.
Also, did you have to get a tuner for the EFI to work with the aftermarket exhaust?

I guess this thread is dead now, huh? I was really hoping to adventure-up my little guzzi a bit, make it a little more versatile to see more stuff...
So far it's bark busters and 90/10 tires...

I would be keen to see what you have done - I'm just Adventuring a Nevada.  I'm writing up about suspension right now in another thread.

Thanks! I'm trying to get sorted pretty soon, it's time for new tires and my Metzeler Lasertecs are not ideal for the unpaved roads I end up on every now and then.
I want Metzeler Tourance tires, and it looks like that's what he's got, with a little bigger front than stock.
I'll pm him and see what kind of info I can get...

Yes, the tire is taller. I had to add spacers between the fender and the fork brace and raise it a half inch or so.
Also, a V7 Stone, classic fender bolts up too.
