"Il Giallo Cavallo" - - aka "The Yellow Horse" is all properly sorted and ready to make an appearance next weekend at the 6th Annual Gathering of Eagles at the View Motel (on the hill...)  in historic Cottonwood, AZ!

Well.... I'm thinking about showing up if things allow me to go. I do have a few questions.

I'm used to bike rallies that Friday is the get there day, Saturday is the day that all events/ get togethers are done and Sunday you leave about noon. This NAR sounds like Friday is an event day?
I ask because I'm 10-12 hours away and hate to miss a get together on Friday. Might have to leave Thursday?

The motel for the event is full. My second choice was the campground. Is that full? If so, is the town full from a Spring Break event or can a motel be had in the town?

Where are the events other than food held? I read about the food at the motel, but where does everyone get together and hang out?

Thanks,
Tom

I'm leaving the SFV relatively early on Thursday morning and planning on 12 hours on the road.  Of course I'm also planning to pickup a couple of bonus points for two rallies I'm taking part in as well.

I also have a couple of 200 mile loops laid out for Friday and Saturday depending on what the "organizers" have in mind.  This is also my first time at this get together, so I have few preconceived ideas about what is going to happen other than pizza, BBQ, and putting faces to names I've see over the last eight years or so.

Pack water, and stop to hydrate often, especially coming across the desert.

This N.A.R. is very informal...and there is a lot of "tire-kicking" and conversation.  Many people take side trips Fr. afternoon / Sat. to various points around the area - - Jerome - Sedona - historic downtown Cottonwood - Payson - Prescott - Flagstaff - even the Grand Canyon.  There are no "formal" organized rides...

You are on your own, so welcome and ENJOY!! :thumb:

Mr. Nevada T-shirt...as in the Dayton Nevada Guzzi Rally?!?

Rode there once with the northern California Guzzisti when I lived in NORCAL.  Nice country up there near Carson City! :thumb: :1:

I have a single room but your welcome to throw out a sleeping bag if you want to share the room.  Im probably going to start over Thursday about noon from Temecula.   Where are you coming from in so cal?

Bob

Where are the events other than food held? I read about the food at the motel, but where does everyone get together and hang out?

Thanks,
Tom

Tom / Bob - Some feedback for you and I hope this helps...

* I doubt the Rio Verde campground is FULL - and it is only 5 minutes from The View Motel
* There are plenty of other hotels nearby The View Motel (Super 8, Best Western, etc.)
* Everyone, however will be hanging around The View Motel (on the hill) both Fri. and Sat. all day / all night
* There will be informal rides both Fri. and Sat.  Most folks leave Sun. morning

JJ, that was the info I was looking for. Didn't want to end up sleeping behind a mini mart due to all the lodging filled up.

Bob, thank you for the offer!! But...

I'm still not sure if I can get away this weekend. It will end up a last minute decision. I'll try!! Sounds like fun!!

Looks like a great location to camp JJ!

Just in case others are looking for things to do the week after, if you are still in the nearby area, Overland Expo is from May 12-14 up in Fort Tuthill County Park, just south of Flagstaff, less than 1 hour away from where you guys will be staying.  For several years, they've had the event at Mormon Lake (also south of Flagstaff)...

Lots of great exhibits, events, adventure film festival, tons of ADV Moto riders and you might even bump into some of the world's most experienced 2 and 4 wheel travelers.  It's a great event...I've been in 2009. 2011, 2013 and 2015...lots to enjoy!

Bike loaded.  Oil, transmission and rear end fluids changed.  Just need to top off the fuel and I'll be headed out in the morning.

I have something like a dozen stops to make for a couple of rallies so I should be rolling in sometime around 9pm.

See all y'all there.

Bike loaded.  Oil, transmission and rear end fluids changed.  Just need to top off the fuel and I'll be headed out in the morning.

I have something like a dozen stops to make for a couple of rallies so I should be rolling in sometime around 9pm.

See all y'all there.

Going to head up for the day Saturday to look at all the old folks bikes that will be filling the town. Looking forward to seeing some styles I have never seen before. The wife will be joining me on her Indian Chief, though she loves MG, she did not have a good relationship with her last one. See you there.
