Mille to 750 sport conversion
« on: February 08, 2016, 10:53:59 AM »
Well i'm getting older, and thinking i'll never get that 70's 750 sport or lemans i've always wanted.  Its all good, I have 2 Morini 350's to fill the niche.  So what would it take to turn my Mille GT into a early 750 Sport?  I figure a tank and seat would be close to 2k.  Thats a lot of cash but lately there have been a few sport conversions on ebay fetching very nice money.  So I feel like its worth the investment. I know the Mille has some love in this forum so I wont destroy anything in the making.  Please share your thoughts.

This is what i'd like to turn the Mille into,

All it takes is the fairing from the SPII.
They are basically the same bike.

Get lower bars, a flat seat, and a JC Whitney fairing. Boom.

Ah, 750 sport...yeah, tank, bars, seat and I'm probably leaving something out.

Rear fender if you use the V7 Sport/750S/S3 seat. Then you'd need to figure out a matching (stainless) front fender - maybe a G5 fender and braces.

If and when you do this,  please be aware that Mille's are rare enough that someone would want your excess parts.  Personally I think an 850 bike would be a better fit but what do I know.  I find my Mille to be just about the perfect bike for me.

Mine was built from a G5, which has that style fender. I built the seat pan myself from one that came with that bike.r

IT will cost you a good amount of dollars to replace gas tank , mufflers , seat , rear set , handle bars , fenders .....
if you buy this stuff new , you will be already over 2500 usd.

Depending on the condition of your bike , if in good condition it will sell for maybe 4 - 4.5 k ?

Then you could just but a round heads bike , and build it the way you like .

I really like the mille the way it is , especially the gas thank . I seen some good looking mille gt "cafe"
Just add low bars and skinny seat ?

OR

this is a real V7 sport that maybe you can negotiate the price with the seller ?

Don't know if it was some sort of buried memory but one
of the things I'd settled in my head for my Guzzi was to get
some headers with a smooth curve of increasing radius and
no sharp bend, and boom - there they are on the mean
greeny. Can anyone tell me do those headers exist for the
bigblocks or will I have to fabricate them?

Cheers Maurie.

This is what i'd like to turn the Mille into,

A new tank, seat, side covers, rear sets & low bars would be a handsome set of summer clothes for your Mille. Go for it. Personalising your Guzzi is traditional. If you kept the original bits for a while, it could always be turned back, especially if the new bits turned out not to be as comfortable for you on long trips.

Depending on how early of a "big block" you want to put them on, either V7 Sport or 750 S3 pipes have that curve. The former for heads with the big threaded "nut" to secure the headpipe, the latter for heads with two studs. Notice the difference in the flanges:
