Guzzi dashboard issues - Compass inaccurate and intermittent
« on: February 17, 2016, 07:59:44 PM »
My dashboard has decided to display some data for a change - it began with the low fuel light making it's first appearance in two years, AFTER a fill up - then the battery died a few days later.

Today, after getting off the 15 North and turning right, sitting at the light, hands at my sides, the compass came on, the indicator showing a bright blue " N ".
That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

So, are those other unlit indicators E, W, and S, or does the one change N-E-W-S depending on your heading ?

Does it give different colors for the different directions ?

I assume we are talking about the Bassa. As was questioned a couple of posts ago, the Bassa does not have an electronic compass built in. In that case, we would be referring to the Neutral Light. Regarding the low fuel light, obviously it should not come on when the tank is full. Out of curiosity, when it came on, was that the first and only time it lit up? Also note that when it is working properly, it will begin to glow dimly, coming on and off and then gradually getting brighter until it pretty much stays on, glowing brightly. It starts lighting up with about 1.6 gallons left in the tank. (Just a point of reference so you know what should be going on.)

Another random thought. Do you know if the previous owner(s) may have removed the dash assembly for some reason and possibly put the indicator bulbs back in the wrong places? Did you get an owners manual so you know what each indicator does? I'm thinking that if someone put a wire or wires back in the wrong place, then knowing which indicator should be doing what may be helpful in figuring out what is going on.
