Griso 1200 fuel light
« on: February 23, 2016, 02:25:29 PM »
So having replaced the clutch and put everything back together, everything is fine. Nearly.

I have had two issues, one of which I have fixed temporarily. The bike cut out, and ground to a halt in a lake of fuel. The quick release fitting on the tank spigot had let go. It would go back on with a click, but then just slid off again. So I cut it off, and bridged the gap with some hose and two jubilee clips. Happy days.

The other issue is that the fuel warning light does not work. All the wiring seems to be connected correctly. But it got to very close to running dry a couple of days ago, and it didn't come on.

Any thoughts about what may have happened, and how I isolate the fault?

Ground control to Guzzisti. Earth calling. Earth calling. Come in Guzzisti, your time is up.

Someone must know the procedure for checking if it is the sender, the bulb or the wiring!

The light should come on briefly when you turn the keyswitch on and the dash goes thru it's start-up.

Put a meter across the sender wiring into the tank. Does it read anything?

The fuel pump and fuel sensor are on the same connector- check it, recheck it. I'd reset the connector and see what happens.

Check the DC voltage across the connector and compare to others...

Yes the bulb is OK -comes on at start up. I've unplugged and re-plugged the connector. Still not working.

Where are you suggesting I check voltage?

At the connector that goes to the fuel sensor...not the fuel pump, but the low level sensor. The bike should be putting a DC voltage out to the sensor- what is it?

Pins 3 and 4 on the fuel pump connector. Orange/black and brown wires, respectively.
