The same thing will happen with "self driving" cars.    When the system can't handle a situation, the "driver" will not have been paying enough attention to take over and handle the situation quickly enough.

That is it. The autosystem bails out with a wink of a light leaving the humans a few seconds to ponder their fate.

Well some of the self-driving cars don't have any controls in the passenger compartment - which is the desired state. So when the computers fail or run into a situation they can't resolve, you get to sit there and ponder your fate - but you can't do anything about it.

 Isn't that pretty much what happens with a driver in control  :laugh:

My grandfather died peacefully in his sleep. Of course, the passengers in his car were screaming their heads off.
